rjsilverthorn 02/18/24 4:07:37 PM #11 | Yellow posted... Like this Yellow posted... Like thisNot really, that list only includes things that meet the UN definition of genocide and excludes other mass killings that have potentially higher body counts. Germany was terrible, but they may not even have the highest body count in WW2. |

Topic | GameTok with Lok: How do you kill billions? |
rjsilverthorn 02/16/24 12:05:01 AM #4 | You would have to be killing enemies at a ludicrous rate too, just for it not to take forever. I did a quick test run in Vampire Survivors, just because it was a game I had installed that had a fairly high kill count. Over a three hour run I managed to kill 1,733,361 enemies, for an average of around 578k an hour. That means it would take around 72 straight days to reach a billion kills. |
Topic | Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth comes out in 2 weeks... are you getting it? |
rjsilverthorn 02/15/24 8:42:23 PM #2 | Played the original, no interest in whatever they are doing with this version. |

rjsilverthorn 02/15/24 6:09:11 PM #4 | I've never had a cat that actually liked to get into water. Most of them have liked hanging out on the side of the tub if one of us is in the tub though. |

rjsilverthorn 02/14/24 4:04:04 PM #7 | fettster777 posted... Cost?Eh, it was 14 years ago so I'm not 100% sure but I think it was around $25k. That included having photos taken in the Magic Kingdom before the park opened and a dessert party in EPCOT to watch the fireworks, on top of the actual ceremony and reception along with some other stuff. Based on how prices for everything else have gone up at Disney since then I'm sure it is VASTLY more expensive now. |

rjsilverthorn 02/14/24 3:46:42 PM #18 | BlueFlameBat posted... As far as I know, the United States is the only nation to actually attack with nuclear weapons despite many other countries having them. The chances that Japan would actually use these nuclear weapons is slim, but at least they'd have a defense.Whatever country had the bomb first in WW2 would have used it, it was too much of a tactical advantage not to. |

rjsilverthorn 02/13/24 6:07:22 PM #3 | I mean, there are already successful in-person gaming conventions so they aren't really doing anything special on that front. |

rjsilverthorn 02/08/24 9:30:08 PM #6 | Lokarin posted... honestly, the presidency has very little to do with how well the government works Eh, that is only partially true. While it would be hard for any president to do something positive at the moment, given the state of the House and Senate, a President can still do a lot of negative things via Executive Order and on the foreign policy front. |
Topic | Why do people act like Diet soda is bad for you? |
rjsilverthorn 02/06/24 5:37:00 PM #7 | Yellow posted... I just feel like there are just better things you could drink than soda, diet or not. Why drink diet when you could drink seltzer water? Or water? Ice water is pretty good.I have, maybe he needs to get out more. |
Topic | "Once again GAMERS prove how awful they are." |
rjsilverthorn 02/05/24 12:51:22 PM #4 | Generally I find when they say 'gamers' like that they generally mean 'incels'. The kind of people that will call a game 'woke' because the female character models don't look like porn stars. |
Topic | How surprised are you that Starfield is coming to PS5? |
rjsilverthorn 02/05/24 12:33:44 AM #11 | josh posted... I'll be surprised if starfield doesn't come out on every console here on for at least the next two generations.I don't know. There is a cost to porting and supporting a game to new hardware. They did it for Skyrim because it was ludicrously popular and people were willing to re-buy the game multiple times, but Starfield may not make financial sense to put the effort to support it. |

rjsilverthorn 02/04/24 11:47:26 PM #7 | GranTurismo posted... never had gamepass. If you unsubscribe from gamepass you lose all your games? So does this starfield thing kinda make you lean more into thinking that cod won't be taken off of PS, if you ever thought that.I honestly have no idea what to expect. There are a lot of analysts that think there won't even be another generation of Xbox. My best guess is they will keep anything they promised support for as multiplatform for some length of time, just because they would never get another large merger approved in the EU if they backtracked on it. |
Topic | How surprised are you that Starfield is coming to PS5? |
rjsilverthorn 02/04/24 9:33:03 PM #2 | Not particularly. At this point it is obviously not going to be a system moving exclusive sot they are likely happy for any sales they can get. I've got Gamepass so I've already got access to the game as it is. I actually put a bunch of time in when it first came out, then I got sick and stopped playing for a bit and never went back. I have to see what was actually fixed in the new patch to see if I want to go back. |

Topic | There's a new tiktok trend involving what I do for work |
rjsilverthorn 02/02/24 8:52:50 PM #9 | agesboy posted... I'm extremely reluctant to do any sort of calls like this because I already assume they're eyerolling at how dumb on the phone I am to begin with (I know they're generally not if you're being respectful, but you know, the brain works that way); if I found out I was being recorded purely for entertainment 'mortified' would be an absolute understatement I know the feeling. I've actually worked in call centers twice and spent the last ten or so years running meetings by phone and yet I still hate having to call a business for something. Just weird brain stuff. I assume they aren't including the customer side of the call, that would go from something that could get you fired to something that could get you in legal trouble. |

Insurance claim reps recording themselves talking to difficult customers and posting it on tiktok.Yeah, that is not cool and should be a fire-able offense at any company. Every year the company I used to work for had employees go through security and privacy training, with a whole section dedicated to social media specifically for stuff like this. |
Topic | Owning a house is a lot of work |
rjsilverthorn 02/02/24 4:21:56 PM #21 | ParanoidObsessive posted... For me the biggest complaint I usually have is keeping the yard mowed and weeded on a regular basis. It's a fairly big yard and I have mild grass allergies, so it's unpleasant every time. But it's worse if I procrastinate doing it and then have to really hack through it later.I got to a point where I just pay some guy in the neighborhood to cut my grass. My yard isn't huge, but it is an old property with older trees, so the ground tends to be rougher than yards in more modern houses. So far I've had to replace a roof, the windows and the furnace/AC unit. Only 'major' thing left is the siding at this point. (knock on copious wood) |
Topic | What do you keep your TVs Volume at? |
rjsilverthorn 02/02/24 3:26:25 PM #5 | I just had to replace my TV and the volume scale on the new one seems ridiculous. I generally have it sitting around 6-7 out of a scale of 100. |

Are you totally underwater during hurricane season? How far is the nearest grocery store?Considering that is a four story house, it is probably at least 100 feet above sea level so I doubt you'd have to worry about being underwater. It is also on the southern coast of Australia, which doesn't seem to be a major target of hurricanes. No clue how remote the location is though. |
