WTF why does it have me with WWF at 57.43%, should be PoR at 57.43%.

Doesn't matter anyways.

^Lol no one really thought No Mercy was going to win it's match. They were just picking it on the incredibly small chance that it did happen because they liked the game and since it was just a 1 point match anyways it wasn't going to decide the winner of the contest (hell the guru winner missed that match).

Rewriting history, sure it may be true for some people, but there were people that thought WWF No Mercy had a decent chance at winning.

I forgot what the app was so I burst out laughing when you revealed it.

The heroes rush away, hoping to get there in time because apparently Japan isn’t technologically advanced enough to let you download apps using the internet.

Reminds me of when special pokemon are only available at select stores.

The difference between Link and other strong characters is that it is really hard to see Link lose. Even after a Link-less bracket gives us a winner the winner probably won't be guarenteed to win the next contest unlike Link.

Of course game releases will be a major factor on whether the trend we see today will continue.

Looks official to me.

But it wasn't.

SBAllen could have done a poll with Epic Final Twist - vs. Batman/Joker and it still wouldn't count.

You still need to include it on your lists. It was the defining match of the contest, the closest match of the contest, the highest vote total match of the contest, the match that excited everyone the most - to exclude it from top whatever lists does not make sense.

It wasn't an official match. It was a great match, but it wasn't a part of the contest.

It was more of an unofficial 3rd place match which gave SBAllen time to put up the betting for the final match. Heck even the poll number has it after the final match.

Why use the GameSpot contest, of all things, to disparage the idea? Joker and Vader freakin owned in that contest. It took Blizzard rallying to keep them from meeting in the finals, and Vader made the finals anyway.

While I'm not arguing that they weren't strong at the same time no one was jumping for joy that fictional characters were allowed. Seriously to the average person it would like as if Mario made the contest.

Because everything would get tripled by the "get rid of the contests" final option that Bacon will inevitably include. If you include Fictionals as part of three or four other options with no "negative" poll option, I can easily see it winning.

There's no reason to believe that, the average voter is pretty apathetic towards contests and fictional characters isn't going to get a lot of people jumping up for joy. Heck the GameSpot contest had its fair share of fictional character haters.

You're...kidding right? Casuals would eat that contest up, and the vote totals would definitely be higher.

Nope, create a poll asking for what format people want and I guarentee you that fictional characters would flop horribly.

This option would be getting at least 25%, probably more like 30+%, I think.

More overestimation that people want a fictional contest. Outside of this board people probably don't care.

Match LXIV: (1) Mario/Bowser vs. (1) Link/Ganondorf

Previous Round

Mario/Bowser – 55.61%
Pokemon Trainer Red/Pokemon Trainer Blue – 44.39%

Link/Ganondorf – 58.26%
Cloud/Sephiroth – 41.74%

Analysis

The third place match may have given us pause about the final, but I don’t think it is too big of a surprise that Mario is close to Link indirectly. Of course the magic word is indirectly and we could be seeing a lot of SFF here unless smart voter GameFAQs decides to step in a prevent some of the SFF. It is quite sad that Cloud and Sephiroth have dropped so much over the years.

The only thing debatable about this match is whether Link will defeat Mario by more or less than what he did in the last character battle. I would like to believe that Mario will perform better because while voters have shown that they do care about the rivalry between Link and Ganondorf it does seem that the rivalry between Mario and Bowser has been much better liked. Of course this is Link we are talking about and we’ve had enough contests to know what Nintendo fans prefer.

Should SFF not appear Mario and Bowser should be able to break 45% on Link and Ganondorf. I do feel that the pair will be better off than what happened to Mario in the last contest. On the other hand it would be a fitting end to watch Link crush his final opponent which should give SBAllen something to think about next contest, should we ever have one.

charmander6000’s Bracket: Cloud Strife/Sephiroth > Mario/Bowser

charmander6000’s Prediction: Link/Ganondorf wins, 62.35% - 37.65%

Except he's not. We know Cloud last year was very close to Samus/Snake/MArio so why not have in that Bracket. Link is #, but Cloud has been declining, we know this.

Except Cloud had Sephiroth on his side which was suppose to make him easily unmatched to everyone besides Link.

Yeah and it's shame that this sorry ass for a contest wasn't given better bracket placings. Cloud on Mario/POkemon Side while Samus and Snake going to Links side would have made it A LOT better.

Except the whole point of the contest was for Cloud/Sephiroth to have a chance against Link. While the bracket could have been made better we can't make changes like that because we didn't know at the time.
