I just did the Thorian fight on Insanity last night. It was actually easier than I'd feared.

Yet he still appears to have it in the cutscene at the end of the game, and if I remember correctly is still marked in Majora's Mask. Thus the complete Triforce appears to exist in each timeline, such that whenever Link moves to a new one, he's actually gifted with that timeline's version of ToC while the timeline he leaves behind now has pieces of the ToC scattered about. So... in the hypothetical merged-futures that Link abandons, the Triforce of Courage is hidden, in pieces, with no wielder around. Ganondorf searches and eventually finds these pieces, having all the time in the world since Link's not there to stop him. Meanwhile, with Link gone, Zelda eventually searches for and awakes a set of Sages of her own to lead the fight against Ganondorf and take back her kingdom. During the attack, Ganondorf confronts Zelda, acquires her Triforce of Wisdom, and begins forcing his way into the Sacred Realm. Never finishing 3 is one of my great gaming shames, particularly as my VC copy is actually in World 8.
