They still give plenty of credit to the opposing team, but mostly tend to sweep borderline calls that go in favor of the Tigers under the rug.

They don't flat out LIE like in that Texas clip you posted, but they move on fairly quickly. <_<

EDIT: And Icehawk, you should fill out this poll for Dickerson and Price as Fangraphs tries to rank all the radio announcers.

They already ranked the TV announcers, and Mario & Rod finished at 8th.

Well I don't think he really has that much of a choice. If he's signed for 35 dates and WWE wants to burn them all on 10 consecutive weeks of house shows, that's their prerogative. He could then just sit on his ass for 8 months and collect a paycheck for doing nothing.

So if the dirtsheets are to be believed, WWE signed Brock for 35 appearances over a year.

Counting 52 Raws + 12 PPVs, that's a potential 64 shows he COULD appear on.

Tonight will be appearance #3, and the PPV Sunday will be #4.

How do you think they will budget these moving forward? Skip 5 PPV cycles completely and just be "full time" for the other 7? Skip 2 (occasionally 3) Raws per month but wrestle on almost every PPV?

It's an interesting dilemma, especially since you know there's NO WAY that they already have this all planned out ahead of time.

Hopefully they don't run into a TNA/RVD situation.

One thing that always bothered me. Why does Smackdown have a Raw Rebound still, while Raw dropped the whole Smackdown Rebound years ago? Wouldn't it make more sense to have a rebound to the show less watched, than the other way around?

I never thought I'd see the day that someone would ask for more recaps on Raw. <_<

And hey, Cena WAS on SmackDown recently! ...for 2 hours. <_<

It's kind of a "chicken or the egg" sort of thing.

Does Raw get the main events because of Cena, or does Cena get the main events by virtue of being the most consistent top guy on Raw?

(Also which one of those was cross-promotional? Cena vs. Kane? I lost track of which show Kane is "on.")

It's weird to think how much more important SD was in those first couple years. It was really on par with Raw for the most part in focus.

The last time a pure SD match main evented a PPV was Kane vs. Taker at Hell in a Cell 2010.

I wonder if any SD match will ever actually main event a PPV ever again.

He was on Raw from Backlash to Summerslam, so he spent 4 months there.

He moved to SD the night after Summerslam, and stayed there until he left.

4 months on Raw = 16-18 weeks which probably means 10-15 matches, and I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he never wrestled on Raw again after Summerslam '02. Maybe at the 2003 Draft show? That would be the only chance.

Something odd I was thinking about:

Brock Lesnar spent his entire main event career (prior to 2012) as a SmackDown superstar, back in the days when they actually did keep the brands pretty separate.

In fact, I would wager that of all the 1993-present WWE Champions, Brock is the one with the fewest career matches on Raw besides Vince McMahon.

I'm pretty sure even HOGAN had more.

WM XX where he tapped out to Benoit went a long way towards healing old wounds, but I wanted to wait to make sure he didn't win the rematch before forgiving and forgetting.

If you recall, INITIALLY right after WM, Triple H was drafted to SD, and the Backlash main event was announced as just straight up Benoit (c) vs. Michaels. Then when Trips decided he didn't want to work Tuesdays and used his backstage powers to move back to Raw, they inserted him into the match for a full-on WM rematch.

The pessimist side of me thought "Why would they insert him into the match unless he plans on winning it?" So I took a wait and see attitude, and nothing bad happened, so I backed down.

Hey Jakyl, I'm kind of curious. When has WWE (or TNA I guess) made a decision with their booking that has made you most angry or upset?

How prescient of you to not include WCW.

Does the Montreal Screwjob count? <___<

I assume we're talking about from an analytical standpoint. As a mark, the 1997 Rumble shattered my fragile little mind.

The one match that got me closest to saying "F*** this s***" was Triple H over Chris Jericho in HiaC.

It evolved out of his old-school fakeout tope move.

He would get a guy on the outside and come running like he he was going to dive through the ropes on him, and if the guy started to move out of the way he would basically do what we now know as the 619 motion to stop his momentum before he jumped out into thin air.

At some point he must have realized that such momentum given centripetal force via the ropes could potentially translate into a powerful kick to the face, and adjusted his moveset accordingly.

Angle defeated Rhyno to win the United States Championship and bring it over to the WWF, but then he would turn on Vince and join the Alliance!

Tajiri defeated Kidman to win the Cruiserweight Championship and bring it over to the WWF.

The Dudley Boyz would lose the WWF Tag Titles to the odd couple team of Jericho and Rock, who would then lose them to the team of T&T, Booker T and Test. But fear not, the Dudleyz would rebound by defeating the Hardy Boyz for the WCW Tag Team Titles, becoming the only team to have held WWF, WCW, and ECW Tag Team Championships.

The European Title was won by Bradshaw, who defeated The Hurricane. Bradshaw would then lose the title to Christian.

WWF Champion: Steve Austin (Alliance)
Tag Team: Booker T/Test (Alliance)
Intercontinental: Edge
European: Christian (Alliance)
Hardcore: Rob Van Dam (Alliance)

WCW Champion: Chris Jericho (WWF)
Tag Team: The Dudley Boyz
United States: Kurt Angle
Cruiserweight: Tajiri (WWF)

The Alliance holds most of the gold!

And the "minor dickery" of heels today often is just that. A lot of modern heels don't really do much besides cheat in matches and insult people.

That still should be enough to dislike them if you're properly engaged. You would shun people that act like Cody Rhodes or David Otunga in real life, so why not as heel wrestlers?

I do 100% agree with your point about everyone's history being totally incongruent though. On some sense it's a product of nationalization, since back in the territory days it wouldn't be hard to be heel in one area and face in another and never the twain shall meet, but now that we have so much weekly wrestling seen nationally, it's super hard to actually keep character continuity over a decade plus.

That's no excuse though.

He still has to make it to Extreme Rules to surpass Miz's reign from a year ago, which doesn't feel right. It feels like Punk has had the title way longer than Miz did.

I don't really know what people wanted from face Punk

I think just some more status quo shakeup.

Same thing we wanted from Triple H taking over for Vince.

You know, that kind of got swept under the rug, but in hindsight that was a REALLY huge loss of potential.
