Interesting question posed on Scott Keith's blog as to whether any one-on-one matchup has been done more times on PPV than Undertaker vs. Kane, which has been done 9 times.
No counting tags, Chambers, triple threats, Rumbles, four-ways, etc. Just straight 1-on-1. Best I've come up with so far is Triple H vs. Randy Orton which has happened 8 times. Cena vs. Orton is currently at 7. I'm about to go check Triple H vs. Rock. But he was THE smark darling of 1998-1999, at least amongst Attitude Era/nWo-created smarks. Smarks who were around before that wave of wrestling were all about Malenko/Benoit/Guerrero/Jericho as their darlings, sure. Triple H being hands on is interesting to me.
I'm sure it'll kill a lot of the goofy charm of NXT, but in a sense it'll be a glimpse of the future once Vince is gone and Triple H is running things. -WWE will be moving NXT to Florida, combined with their developmental company Florida Championship Wrestling for its own tapings beginning Thursday, May 17 at 7 PM.
The tapings will be at Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida (near Orlando) at the Full Sail Live gym. Tickets will be free for FSU staff and students with ID, as long as they reserve in advance. There hasn't been any word on how much it costs for the general public. The tapings will be called "WWE Superstar Showdown". They are being moved to better mix developmental talent into NXT. There is also the hope that the University setting can have better crowd reactions and give FCW TV a "grander" look than the FCW Arena in Tampa. NXT will have more attention instead of being secondary to the Smackdown tapings. HHH is the one behind the move and will be hands-on with the shows. He is a fan of the venue after he and several other company executives visited it last year, including Kevin Dunn and Stephanie McMahon. Maybe.
