Amon is Mako and Bolin's Father.

First off Both Amon and Mako/Bolin had there families killed by a fire Bender. So of course my theory is that the incidents are one in the same.
Amon probably thought his sons were killed after being near burned to death. And Mako didn't think his father survived that so he went off with Bolin somewhere. So none of them know about each other being family.
Now you might say that when he saw Bolin in episode 3 he didn't recognise him. Maybe that is because he has gotten so involved in his work and so driven by it that he has forgotten their appearances and thought of them as common benders. Or he does in fact know that they are his sons and doesn't know how to break it to them or simply hasn't had the time.
Now the stories they told were slightly different, but Mako was a child so his memory of the event could look very different then what it actually was.

You see their eyes are identical. Now Bolin has green eyes but that probably is because his genes are more like his mothers.

My third point is this picture:



It's from the season finale. It seems that Mako might have had a realization (about Amon) and is confused. As well as seeing what his father is doing to his love must be very heartbreaking.

So in conclusion this is a lot of proof to support my theory. This is all I got so far but I will find more. And if you have some, feel free to post them in the comments below.

Yeah, but Mako's still had plenty of screen time for the episodes he's been in, and he's continued to not impress. The only thing he adds is a love triangle with Korra and Asami. He's not offensively bad or anthing, but he's just got nothing interesting going on.

Except for the fact that he Amon is his father...maybe

I'm afraid I have to disagree with you there. The problem is that now that the probending arc is over, Bolin and Mako have no stake in the plot, but they continue to just kind of exist. Aang's friends all had defined reasons for joining his group, but Bolin and Mako have nothing beyond generally wanting to help. I mean, it's not a huge problem, but it'd be nice if they had some kind of personal stake in fighting the Equalists like Korra, Asami, and Lin do. Bolin's personality itself is okay, I guess.

Also, I just checked - Lin is supposed to be fifty?

I think he was. Why would he have a reason to lie unless he was Yakone and I doubt that. He's probably Mako's Father and somehow survived being burned.

He isn't dead yet. Also he honestly doesn't seem like a bad person so he probably wouldn't go to hell. In fact I'm not even sure if he's the series true villain. There could be someone else.

Both were burnt to near death for no good reason.

Both cover up there burns (though Amon does a far better job of this).

Both want revenge for what happened to them.

Both wish to rule the world.

Both are voiced by Steven Blum.

However there goals are the complete opposite. Amon wants to create equality while Shishio wants a world meant for the strongest and only them.

Now who would win in a fight?

Amon is Mako and Bolin's Father.

That explains why Mako wasn't shooting at Amon in the preview. Also both had their families killed by a fire bender so it seems like a match to me. Now who is that fire bender if they are even important.

It's time. If this years E3 is any indication, we need new consoles. The best game of E3 Watch Dogs probably will be coming to the Next Gen consoles (even if they have stated current gen systems as it will come out in 2014).

First Party titles at Launch will be Pikmin 3, New Super Mario Bros. Mii, and Eternal Darkness 2. Coming later will be Acid Ghost, Super Smash Bros. Wii U, Super Mario Wii U, Mario Kart Wii U, Star Fox Wii U, F-Zero Wii U, and Zelda Wii U. All but Zelda will be shown off in some form.

Final Fantasy Versus XIII has in fact been renamed Final Fantasy XV (even though that video was fake) and will be on Wii U (as well as PS3).

A GTA V trailer will be shown. It will on Wii U at launch.

Valve will announce Steam for Wii U as well as Half-Life 3 a Wii U exclusive (not counting PC or Mac). As well The Orange Box 2 will be a launch title and will include Half-Life 2, HL2: Episode 1, HL2: Episode 2, Portal, and Portal 2. Counterstrike: Global Offensive and Team Fortress 2 will be downloadable titles at launch.

Borderlands 2, XCOM: Enemy Unknown, Call of Duty: Black Ops II, Dishonored, Resident Evil 6, Medal of Honor: Warfighter, Need for Speed: Most Wanted 2, Overstrike, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, Tekkan Tag Tournament 2, Sonic & All-Stars Racing: Transformed, Dragon Quest X, Hitman: Absolution, Sleeping Dogs, Dead or Alive 5, Darksiders 2, Assassin's Creed III, Far Cry 3, Rayman: Legends, and F1-2012 are all launch titles. Last years Batman: Arkham City will also a launch title bringing the number up to 26.

On 3DS for First Parties, this year will have New Super Mario Bros. 2 in August, Fire Emblem Awakening in September, Luigi's Mansion 2 also in September, Paper Mario 3DS in October, and Animal Crossing 3DS in November. Next year we will have Majora's Mask 3D in June of 2013 and a whole New Zelda by the end of 2013. As well Donkey Kong Country Returns 2 will be released on 3DS in November of 2013.

For Third Parties on 3DS there will be Kingdom Hearts 3D in July, Professor Layton and the Mask of Miracle in August, Beyond the Labyrinth in September, Time Travelers in October, Monster Hunter 4 in November, Contra 5 in 2013 and Project X Zone in 2013.

Can't. They made up their own ending. Kind of like what FMA did. So it won't happen. The reason it ended by the way was because of poor ratings in Japan.
