Why will Nintendo price a more powerful brand new console with a tablet controller at just $50 more than current consoles? Remember, this is the same company that just launched a handheld for $250.
Although maybe the 3DS launch has made them approach WiiU's launch price more cautiously.
360 is $300 with a 250GB HDD that costs about $100 alone. Wii U will support External HDD. It doesn't come with an external HDD.

In terms of what? from the evidence i've seen they don't even plan to have an internal HDD. An Xbox 360 without a HDD is about $149. The memory and processor isn't that much more powerful than 360 or PS3.
Bottom line is it runs current gen titles. That's what devs are making now.
For me the price is down to how much the Tablet is worth. If it's more than $300 then the tablet has to be in the region of $100.
If they go over that they really will end up with another N64.
IT's essentially an xbox 360 with tablet. Should be $250-300 max. Not $350.
PS3 was $599 because of the ridiculously expensive Blu ray and PS2 chip. Nintendo cannot charge more than $300 for Wii U unless that tablet is $100 on it's own. There is NOTHING from the leaked specs i've seen suggests it should be that much.

Characters/plot are there and are developed, but they're not the most memorable. It's one of those games that you need to lose yourself in to get why so many love it. Soundtrack is amazing.
(Best JRPG of gen is still Valkyria Chronicles though!)
VC is more of a strategy game really.
But yeah that's the best way to describe it. Basically FF12 but without the terrible characters and boring story.
Xenoblade is an all round excellent JRPG. There are great JRPG's this gen but not as consistent. Lost Odyssey for example has a great story but a rather mediocre battle system. Vesperia has amazing gameplay but a rather mediocre story. FF13..... well..is just mediocre period

I'd take Skyrim next year. BRawl has probably declined a lot. Obviously Skyrim isn't going anywhere near the retro Giants but it's the strongest Western game.

From the 120 Hours i've spent on Skyrim compared to the 2 run through of SS, Skyrim is better no question. Though I'd put Dark Souls as my personal GOTY.
And I said earlier Dark Souls was a good shout for the #5 game this year and I was close. It's probably #5 or #6 depending on Uncharted. People thought the Shooters would be stronger but they are weak as hell. Assassins flopped too as expected.
We really need a game of the "generation" poll starting from 2006.

it's too slow and predictable. doesn't run 60FPS either. IT's great game but hardly the best. I'm sick to death of this "linear" design now. I really a proper 3D mario game again where you can actually go into the same levels and look for stuff and explore.
I just finished Fusion again today for the first time in a while. Seriously, they are NOT the same game. Fusion has far more islolation exploration than Other M though both are linear. The controls are also simple and straight forward and the music is MUCH better in Fusion. So i don't understand this "it's the same as Fusion" crap. Fusion is a much better game than Other M. The only thing they have in common is the adam thing and linear paths, but the adam thing is absolutely nonsensical and subtle that it doesn't even matter. Controls in Fusion are also simple.
Ueda is still wokring on the game and will finish due to contract but he's no longer going to be an employee of sony in the future.
Good luck Ueda, you gave us games that only people can dream about. No doubt in my mind Last Guardian will be an absolute Masterpiece like it's predecessors.

Just to ask, how often is Samus's body language shown in cutscenes right before or after boss battles? I not only hardly remember any such thing, but have a hard time conceiving it being done in the game at all. The one good thing Prime does for Other M is slightly justify Samus's "weak" character in the latter due to her body language in both games being similar - but then we arrive at the conclusion that Prime characterizes her better if her reactions upon seeing certain bosses aren't shown very often in Other M.
You're making too much of a big deal, in the PRime games she's just ready for Battle and does her usual battle stance. Can't read much into it because there isn't anything to read into.

The difference is though Retro didn't try to characterize her. In an interview during the time they said her objectives were clear and she would be a mute throughout the game just achieving her goal. She had more characteristics in Prime 3 but was more or less the same silent but badass bounty hunter. That's not to say she shouldn't or can't speak i just don't think Prime games(except 3) had any real requirements for her to speak, they were both heavily gameplay driven. Prime 2 actually had more NPC's and an actual plot, it was simple and to the point.
IF you are going to make a metroid game as story driven as Other M then you'd got to be very careful in how you approach the character. Sakamoto ignored the prime games completely, that left him with a lot of problems. Now i've read Interviews where Sakamoto speaks about other M. He doesn't give a flying **** about Primes, that's why his direction and vision on Other M was severely flawed. And he's now faced the consequences of his ignorance and selfishness. Game flopped and is regarded as one of the worst games in the series.

I guess you could say that, Super and Prime are some of the best games of all time let alone in the actual metroid series, they combine isolation, exploration and atmosphere like no other. But that doesn't mean a game like other M can come in and stink up the series. It should have been a spin off.
we need a character contest that includes characters that don't originate from VG. But site owner and some people around here think they would be too weak...because everyone knows random characters from Fire emblem and shadow hearts are more popular than Batman and Robin.

Story - I knew coming in that it would be new for this series. I understand that Other M will try to present a younger, more inexperienced, more vulnerable and introspective Samus. She's not the experienced, battle-hardened hero we've seen in other games. I got that, and I actually didn't have a big problem with it if the game managed to handle that well. So far, I don't like the voice actress, but I'll deal. What's tougher to deal with, however, is authorization. Seriously, she, a freelance bounty hunter, needs authorization to use her powers? What a lazy and stupid way present the Metroid-style gameplay. I'd have preferred Samus slipping on a banana peel and her suit malfunctioning as a result.
Dialogue - whoa nelly, this is awkward. It's not Engrish or early 90s video game bad, but it's just weird and very unnatural. It's clearly Japanese and wasn't tackled by the best localization team. This is one of the reasons I'm wary of voice acting in mah Zelda - because I don't want it sounding like this. I wonder if Western game dialogue sounds as bad to Japanese players. I'm guessing it has to.
Graphics - They're fine. It usually takes some kinda special circumstance for me to complain about graphics.
Sound - The game is surprisingly quiet. The Prime games had some of the most unique soundtracks in gaming, blending what I can only describe as "techno meats organic" sounds to create their beats. Sadly, such beats seem to be absent here. Retro Studios is missed.
Pretty much the experience I and many Metroid fans had when they first played it. Yeah authorization sucks, you'll get even more annoyed by it later.
Definitely a Game to forget for the Metroid series.

Uncharted 2 and Dragon Age both beat Dark Souls. MW3 shouldn't be as strong as the 2nd, but I don't see why it can't at least go even if not beat Dark Souls. I think you're really overestimating it.
DS is one of those games that got more popular after it came out. No doubt it's far stronger than Demons and certainly up there. I said it was 5th strongest, i didn't say the strongest.
Look at Assassin on there...and look at how the game was recieved. It isn't going to do as well as Brotherhood. Obviously Batman,Skyrim,Zelda and Portal are way ahead.
The only debate is hwo strong UC3 is. PS3 Exclusive Vs. Miltiplat. UC3 isn't going to be anywhere near as strong as UC2
Hype polls don't mean anything. You have to see how games did in relation to their hype.
Some people thought FF13 would win GOTY just because it was FF last year. ME2 dominated the polls. I'm not overestimating it. All i'm saying is you have a Batch of games in Assassins, MW3, BF3, Uncharted 3, gears 3 and Dark Souls and for me Dark Souls is going to be the more popualr out of those, that's just my take.
USing 2 year old GOTY polls for completely different games is silly.
Well the European one was basically a normal case with card cover, but it was a limited edition..as in the game being limited. Can't believe Nintendo stopped printing after just a few months. But they'lll keep on rolling copies of other M to sit on store shelves.

you definitely need to play them. Prime 2 is underrated imo, not as good as prime but still top quality. Prime 3 is for the worst of the trilogy but still an excellent game. The Prime Trilogy on Wii is one of the best collections this gen up there with Orange Box.

nah. I'd definitely take DS over Uncharted 3 on this site. DS is probably 2-3x more popular than Souls and UC3 isn't as popular as UC2. This is a hardcore site and DS was really popular on here. Even pre hype polls didn't do too bad but i think it surpassed hype. Plus it's not a PS3 exclusive either.
