WTF... What game contest? It could win game of 2011, sure, but that's not much of an achievement, as many Zelda fans already admit Skyward Sword to be underwhelming.

Today's match proves that things have gotten completely ridiculous on this site - even third tier Nintendo characters can now have a close match with the best non-Nintendo.

If you'll recall back during the first Best Game Ever tournament there was a poll between Pokemon GSC and Xenogears where only registered users were allowed to vote. Then the poll was redone with everyone allowed to vote and Xenogears won by significantly more than it had the first time. That would imply that the core of the site is more Nintendo friendly, while the casuals just visiting are more Square fans. Back then anyway.

The crucial point is that if a FFVII quality game were to be released by Square today I don't doubt it could spawn the birth of a new Cloud.

False. The reason FF7 and Cloud are so big is because they introduced the JRPG genre to many people, and it was also what brought many people to Gamefaqs in the first place. No matter how good a FF they release now, the ceiling for a MC is probably near elite level.

The line of thinking was that FF is stronger relative to Cloud/FF7 than Zelda is relative to Link/OoT. Which was true, it just wasn't quite enough.
