In fantasy, the god(s) of religions, most of the time have an actual direct presence in the setting and are not just something invoked by (religious) leaders to justify their positions. Which kinda gives religion a different dynamic in fantasy than it does in real life.

-If we're allowed to go with entire classes, both the Sniper and General in Fire Emblem have historically suffered from this. The former would be amazing in a game that didn't include counter-attacking; the latter would similarly be great if the game design included more defensive maps instead of ones that expected you to move against enemy positions, often penalizing you if you take too long (by having recruitable characters get killed or enemy thieves loot treasure chests, for instance).

Longbows, +Range Skills, Boots, +Movement Skills, Teleportation Staves and Dancers are all options to deal with that, depending on the specific game in question.

I have been wondering what country this "Phantom" could have been/be an agent of. I doubt this game-series would name any real-life counties, so no Russia, China, North Korea etc... But since we know they struck at the very least 7 years ago, that would make it perfectly plausible as a retaliatory action for certain international events set in motion by Edgeworth 8 years ago.

I made that statement after coming across Ponco for the first time. The name Metis rings no bells for me.

Just finished the case, I suppose that is a twist, but (thankfully) not 3-4 levels of dark and depressing. I doubt we are going the route of "the defence lawyer did it" (that already happened last game), so the evidence has to be fake or misinterpreted in some way. So either somebody planted the prints on the lighter (Foolbright has opportunity, but that would be insanely silly), Foolbright unintentionally contaminated the evidence (still silly, but more in character), or something very weird is going on...

Have not played since starting Case 4, but still wanted to put some thoughts to text.

Turnabout Academy feels way too small for a case that took place at a school. 4 students and 2 teachers? At the very least we should have met the Prosecution Faculty Head. (Which also made me realize the two balcony set-up makes no sense, if there are supposed to be 3 Faculties...)

Realizing the structure DD has been going for, I am afraid Case 4 is going to be as dark and depressing as 3-4 was. I also feel like the narrative just skipped over something, with Apollo just deciding to wear an eyepatch out of nowhere...

strangely dark and glossed over themes,

3 Houses is unapologetically dark, with no real designated good guys. Think more factions based on differences in politics, like say Three Kingdoms or Legend of the Galactic Heroes, with no-one being pure white or black, but all just differing shades of grey.

Uhm, game, these insistent reminders that Robin is a man, are getting a bit excessive...

Over the top insistence that something is a certain way and not another way, does not make that another way a good reveal when it is finally revealed, it will just receive a "we know! stop treating us like idiots!" response.

Although, I would prefer to be proven wrong. Thinking you have things figured out before the first day of trial, and then day 1 of trial seems to confirm things, AA should never be that obvious on a mid to late game case...

Edit: now that I think about it, using Widgit to go through the emotional discord that is gender dysphoria, would be amazing if the writers could pull it off, but so easy to mess up and come across as belittling and insulting...

Edit2: of all the words the game/writers could have chosen for Simon to describe Hugh, it had to be juvenile...

Chronologically yes and I think it was completely self-contained regarding the story of DD, only using Bobby and Blackquill for some reason.

The case absolutely should have started with Gumshoe being the one who tries to find a willing prosecutor, maybe even have him as the Chief of Police and having him be excited about Wright's return. Only for that to backfire on him when the only Prosecutor willing to take the case, keeps whipping him...

Case 3, initial impressions. Feels like it has been a while, since I played a somewhat regular AA case for the first time, without the story just telling you who did it.

Initial guess, the story wants us to suspect Means, Robin and Hugh. Which would imply to me they have random, unrelated, reveals that will take up some time in court.

Robin Newman: gender neutral name and "New man", leads me to believe the reveal is that Robin is either a transman, or a woman crossdressing.
Hugh O'Connor: Huge and O''Conner', going by his looks, he is lying about his age for some reason? He looks older than half the "young" cast, despite being listed as 18.

Means: would be my guess for the actual killer. Connecting neatly to the myth arc and all that.

I guess this case really proves that the one thing I would like to see from AA (more interconnectivity), would probably just result in ill-suited references every other line with these writers.

Still, for this one case it was fun. I also feel like every aspect was included as a reference to a previous case, makes me wonder whether every case received a reference?

By now Blackquill is starting to feel like a do-over of Barok van Zieks (pre-over, I know this originally came first). (For some reason I remembered that name as a von and German, not Dutch, huh...) Everything seems to be against the guy and I just want to give him a hug. Let's hope he is distinguished somewhat from (or better put, the writers properly distinguished Barok from him)

I think I now get why this was the DLC case. Has AA ever been this self-aware?

Although kinda expecting that only day 1 will be the defence of Orla, even with the eternal mockery of "defending the orca", being the defining factor of the case in the discourse.

I guess Marlon getting Tanuki's theme, means it is not actually his theme and just the generic weird/silly/whatever people for this game? Meaning two of the recurring themes are annoying, with one even only being used for the same annoying character. What were they thinking, with making Fullbright as annoying and obnoxious as they did?
