Won't someone please have pity for the poor bullied smol beans who like war and genocide??You are so privileged it disgusts me.
I hope the ceasefire is legit, though I wouldn't be surprised if Trump is speaking out of turn.Well Iran is currebtly bombing us for hour and a half at this point
"Nanis23 posted (in the last topic)...I have no idea how you deal with this clown on a daily basis

Welcome to OUR LAST GODSDAMNED DECADE.
I assume he has been mediating between them and a deal has been reached. As someone that follows this war for almost two years by now...
It just gives Trump a reason to dramatically escalate. Which he might not do. But it's possible that he does. Why would he? they shot 6 missiles at an evacuated base and all of them intercepted (from what I read)
Honestly, it's just a really stupid move all around. All the reporting I read in the past week stated that a bunker buster wouldn't be able to reach Fordow and you'd need to do multiple runs, landing successive bombs in the same spot. Maybe we did that, but it's still kind of an unknown if it would work and the idea that Trump is claiming it was "completely and totally obliterated" is just... something I don't think we could even know at this point. Even supposing it was, the place was supposedly evacuated some time ago and Iran is believed to have enough enriched uranium in other locations that like... this would at best result in a short delay. That's a very pessimistic view
This isn't even counting that our own intelligence had reached the conclusion that Iran wasn't working on a nuke... until Trump decided by fiat that that was wrong and forced his appointees to parrot him despite having previously saying the opposite. The reporting on that was that Israel's strikes on Iran had likely changed Iran's position to developing nukes and I'd expect these strikes to just cement that.
All that said I'm... not really sure where things go from here. Iran doesn't really have any good options moving forward. They don't have the capability to strike the US directly, presumably the US has moved its personnel and equipment away from areas in the region where they could strike (but with the incompetence of this administration who knows,) Iran was already exhausting its missiles on Israel, they can't really launch any kind of ground offensive because they're separated by other countries who surely would rather not get involved here... I guess if they're feeling desperate or spiteful enough they could try to close the Strait of Hormuz as a "fuck you" to the world economy but that will anger other Gulf states that rely on it for shipping oil...
I dunno, I feel like the strikes between them and Israel will continue... and then it just... hopefully settles down? Only now Iran will be deadset on getting a nuclear weapon for deterrence and the bombings, especially after the US did, will likely result in a rally-around-the-flag effect inside Iran so regime change is probably less likely than it otherwise would have been.
Literally I think the best move for the US for both its aims and really the world was to just fucking do nothing but Trump just couldn't have that.
Oh boy we are citing chat gpt.
Just yikes. Asking AI, really.I am not taking it for a fact
wow we were totally out of FFIX characters by 20th in CXXVRemake boost when
what a world
It's 1 AM on the East Coast here so news here is going to be lagging overnight but 10 minutes ago the Associated Press had a Breaking News alert that an Iranian missile barrage had struck a direct hit on a medical building in Israel. (their language, not mine)Thanks for the info
It's very much in the early stages of reporting and I'm sure they'll update with the details including the name of the hospital and any casualties as they get them. I expect they'll have that pretty soon but again, they'll be a bit slower than usual given the local time here. And most news sources here will pull from the AP so it'll spread fast I imagine. Definitely by morning local time.
If you're under the impression that the news here doesn't report on strikes on Israel then you are very much mistaken. The coverage is disproportionately about strikes on Israel and lends them more weight in their reporting than they do Palestine or as it happens now, Iran. The coverage of strikes on Iran here are being largely framed in a "is Trump going to have us enter this directly?" since he keeps trying to make the story about him over here so it's gotten a bit more coverage focus than it otherwise would have based on previous conflicts between Israel and its neighbors have had.
If anything, I'd say the media seems to largely be falling in line behind going to war just like it did with Afghanistan and Iraq.
