Mario got more wins than Zelda this time!

Also Spidey went 1/10 with its only win being performance.

Zelda deserves that win though. The Switch hardware is usually a technical disaster.

Dave the Diver for Best Game Design? It even being nominated there seems weird to me. Nothing about the design seems particularly elevated or novel, its just a well-executed game

BAFTA is unfathomably based for giving Outer Wilds the 2019 GOTY but most of the rest of their GOTY picks leave me a little confused (except for this year which was just the consensus pick)

Absolutely. Keighley's is more open about it being a popular choice amalgamation or whatever, while BAFTA pretends to be more of an elite critic's choice (it's not).

I am unaware of the makeup of the BAFTA voting committee!

It used to be a group of like 10 people. They expanded it to the whole gaming membership of BAFTA, so it's over 1000 now. Will probably be way more mainstream choices. No more Vampire Survivors winning GotY, heh.

It was an enjoyable experience, but it wasn't a "best" anything.
Especially not in 2017 - the year that had BOTW, Mario Odyssey, Nier Automata, RE 7, Persona 5, Horizon Zero Dawn...etc
