Oh hell yea!! Though Im a bit older now (not old yet, but older), so I find myself checking out the pit first to see how wild it is before jumping init does depend on the show for me these days. I also went to milwaukee metal fest this year and the third day had a bunch of hardcore acts like Speed and Harms Way so the pits that day were just a bunch of people crowd killing and doing windmill arms, and that shit sucks

I fucking despise the hardcore kids and their spin kick bullshit. Though I have seen some pretty awesome videos of them getting wrecked for doing that crap
Hardcore dancing needs to made taboo. It ruins the fun for everyone elseit really does. it's all about taking up as much floorspace as possible and distancing yourself from everyone else. it TOTALLY fucking wrecks the communal spirit of a mosh pit, and just of shows in general. The undulations of the crowd, the synchronized movements, the bumping and shoving, the general exchange of energy. none of that with that hardcore dancing shit. just LOOKIT ME I'M TAKING UP SPACE FLAILING ABOUT WILDLY!
yes, metalheads do look out for each other because as soon as someone goes down there's 2-5 guys instantly reaching down to pick them up or forming a protective circle if there's real damage, lost glasses or phone, etc.seriously. 100%. this is what a lot of people who have never been in a mosh pit just don't get.
Nah, I don't like crowds
