Shitty red state legislators
Even if it doesn't, the federal government guarantees it. The right-wing SC may have dismantled the VRA, however there is still some semblance of it.

This seems like something that would be defeated by any true-hearted judges.

Still, Republicans always proving how hard they want to end democracy.

Fucking sickens me how people run defense and/or directly support them.

Didn't Kansas voters decide to keep abortion legal or something recently, and the Kansas GOP legislature basically said "lol, no."?

Kansas' SC are pretty strict constitutionalist. Which is why they also ruled that banning abortion was unconstitutional awhile back which is what caused right wing-nuts to try to pass a constitutional amendment that got voted down.

In this case because the KS constitution didn't explicitly state voting as a constitutional right, they say it isn't.

Did they have a vote on whether people have the right to vote?
It baffles me that some people still have faith in the voting system.

The Originalists claim it's not a federal Constitutional right, either, it's a "Constitutional privilege." Seriously.

Yeah, Kansas is the one who put it in the summer of a primary year in the hopes that it would motivate the least amount of people to the polls. Instead we saw how the issue will drive even Republican voters to protect this right as it overwhelmingly passed.

Actually it was Kansas. Though I guess it depends on what you consider recent.

Only two things can end a Republican's career - a dead girl or a live boy.
If I read the article correctly, it's basically just a ploy to be able to reject people requesting access to early/mail-in voting and making it near impossible for groups to organize new voter registration events.

Trying to block mail-in and teenage voting. I wonder why?

Those who have power are loathe to part with it. They know their grip on power is threatened when the youths get pissed off enough to actually bother voting.

What we need is for people like Alito and Thomas to be replaced

No doubt.

The SC should also be expanded to 12/13 judges, not because it would help Dems (obviously it would if done under Biden), but because each judge is supposed to preside over a circuit and currently a few of them have 2.

The 13th is a federal circuit, so I'd be fine with accepting 12 for the conventional reason they exist.

Unfortunately, no Dem will expand it because of timidity/"seeming political" and Republicans will probably expand it next time they get in just to show they don't give a fuck about anything except securing their power.

Would they need a 2/3 majority vote to do this? I could see why it's never getting done in that case.

The Originalists claim it's not a federal Constitutional right, either, it's a "Constitutional privilege." Seriously. But owning guns, of course, is a federal constitutional right.
