I hate the reception that game got because now people just write off Xenoblade fans as coomers.

Really, if you're not getting hung up on some of the choices for blade designs, it really is the best one gameplay wise. I hate how slow it is to letting you actually use things like chain attacks & a full set of three blades, but after that, it's by far the most fun & dynamic battle system once you get the hang of it.

Surprising you forgot so many of the characters, considering it's only...seven years old...

Your memory problems aren't an indication of the game's quality, especially not when XC2 has such an incredible cast on both the heroic and villainous side.

I remember a thread on the Smash board when the Xenoblade 3 spirit came out, and someone said "I could've sworn Mio already got a spirit." I think they were thinking of Nia.
Let's-a go! Okey dokey!

I really enjoyed all the time I spent in the menu doing Merc Missions and swapping my blades in and out to use their field skills. Very engaging gameplay

Sorry, I'd have to agree that it really does have a great cast, especially if you play Torna. Though it doesn't start to show it or the story until literally the second half of the game, & I expect most people have already made their minds about it by then.

Unless you care about blade quests or really want the rewards, & there is little reason to, outside blades who have their affinity charts tied to it, you can ignore most of the Merc Missions. Field skills can definitely be annoying, but all the necessary ones are covered by story required blades, anyway.

I don't play the games but my discord friends who do are pretty much not as into 2 as they were the first or third game for that reason.

Lol. Pretty sure no one remembers Duncan in Xeno 1.

Anyways, here's a good summary of the popularity of the Xeno games:

I mean, Merc Missions are passive and you can do other things while waiting on them. Field skill stuff sucked though.

Mainly what people talk about with engaging gameplay is the combat though. Which I agree. Out of the main trilogy I still think 2's the best combat even with its really slow introduction to mechanics.

Most annoying element of Merc Missions is probably the ones that have specific requirements to even initiate them. It's not a big deal if you don't have skills to speed them up, but when you need to pull blades with specific skills, specifically those Merc Mission exclusives, just to meet the requirements; even worse when you they compound with weapon & element requirements.

Wth is this topic?

I don't think that XC2 is the most popular at all, and I think the fanbase is pretty balanced in their "1/2/3 is the best!" camps.

Maybe for the waifu scene. They probably dominate the R34 section too.

Not remembering a single name, even after playing the games? And even without playing XC1, many people can still name Shulk from Smash alone.

Same issue.

Sorry, but no matter how bad XC (or any other game) is supposed to be, how can people completly forget characters who are basically always shoved into their face?
Planning is the process of replacing chance with error.
I couldn't get into that gsme. On top of everything else, I hated the loot/crafting system.

I agree that XB2 has the best combat out of the three XB games, but the game does a really shitty job in explaining its mechanics to you. I had to watch an exhaustive youtube video to breakdown the combat for me to actually enjoy what they were going for. I also dislike the unnecessary gacha system, but I agree that it wasn't done with nefarious/predatory intentions...otherwise they would've given you the option to pay real money to make it faster.

As for the cast of characters, sorry but I greatly dislike anime tropes and this game really basks itself with those anime tropes. XB1 had some of them, but none of it was as cringey as XB2. I did enjoy the twist in XB2 in comparison to XB3. XBX is my to go game, even though that game is plagued with problems itself.

Strongly disagree. Worst battle system in the series by far. I'd say X has the best battle system, followed by 3.
