Real shit is happening. Revelations almost a thousand chapters in the making are now coming to fruition. Huge characters hinted at from the very beginning are now making their moves.I've been hearing this for what feels like years.
I really need to read thru the manga. I followed the anime up to Wano but the pacing was just too much for me and I gave up...I mostly read it, at this point. The anime is for highlights, such as this fight here. The anime pacing is truly awful most of the time, but when the animation hits like a truck I can't ignore it.
I've been hearing this for what feels like years. That's because there have been some good payoffs here and there. This shit is the real shit, though. We're talking

I'm a bit scared for the animation staff. There's just no way they're pumping out this quality on a weekly basis without being chained to their fucking desks with guns to their heads. That's the thing, these high action episodes only happen once in awhile, so they can save their effort and budget for episodes like the clip above. The ones in between aren't crazy, though still pretty high actuality on average compared to the past.

Gear 5 is supposed to be Tom and Jerry, not this overly busy tryhard stuff. The animators really don't understand the point
I dunno man, I watched the wano arc and there were moments like this in SO many episodes, it started to get a bit dizzying. I used to think this was only possible with like, high budget 10-episode series, or movies. They brought on a ton of freelance animators during Wano's climax, even quite a few foreigners (heck the Kid/Law vs Big Mom episode was pretty much entirely made by western animators)
For those of you guys who don't know, when the animation changes to be smoother it's what's called a "sakuga moment" when most of the budget gets pushed onto a specific fight scene for the important fights.Well, this is what I meant by not liking some animators "styles", big episodes like the above usually have multiple animators working on them and you can tell when the animation type changes that it's someone else's section.
Most of the time they look really good, but the issue I'm having with Luffy Gear 5 stuff is that...most of it is incomprehensible. I have a very hard time following the action which is weird because Luffy Gear 5 is suppose to be Looney Tunes stuff, which is known for not only good animation but making sure every scene is visible enough to convey what it needs to show with a funny punchline. Well that was my head cannon when I saw Luffy Gear 5 when reading the manga, so it might just be a "me" problem.
this topic is an example of how easily pleased shonenbros are, this animation quality is standard for many 1 or 2 cour anime...I'm not even going to dignify this with a counter-argument. We all know the difference.

How is the live action version?Remarkably solid. It's not really comparable to the anime, given the pacing and budgetary constraints, but for what it's got to work with it does a fantastic job.
Nah, you're right. The cut, cut, cut - especially around the 50 second mark - cheapens the animation. It's like Mob Psycho 100 -style without the great choreography.

I've been catching some chapters now and then. Read the Kaido fight because people were losing their shit about toonforce, lost interest with the meandering around not-Einstein, but now there's a fight again so let's check it outThe story of this arc has been absolute peak One Piece. You're missing out a lot. There's a few slow chapters while they explore the island to introduce some characters, then the plot hits HARD before the fights start getting real.
