Third-party publishers are second-guessing their continued support of Xbox consoles moving forward.
According to a new report from the head of GamesIndustry.biz Chris Dring, the predominant feeling around last weeks Game Developers Conference was the status of Microsoft and Xbox.
The other thing I heardI heard it from a very prominent company and one not so prominentwas Xboxs performance in Europe is just flatlining, he said via the GI Microcast.
He continued: You can follow our monthly coverage in the games market and you can see that Xbox sales are falling, and its been falling all throughout last year and its falling even harder this year. The phrase one major company who released a big game last year said [was], I dont know why we bothered supporting it.
Lastly, it was mentioned that third-party publishers view the market right now as PC and PS5.
After the recent GDC 2024, GamesIndustry's Christopher Dring believes Xbox is "in real trouble as a hardware manufacturer."
RIP MS
Wonder if they can turn it around but I really don't think so.
Sony always wins. They laughed at him, but Chad Warden is the modern day Nostradamus
At least they got good controllers for pc use
Sony always wins.
Hopefully not, since the Series X is a much better console than the PS5.stop
Customers always lose.
I personally think the series x is the best console ever made from a design standpoint. They just havent been able to get the support for it
I been saying ms is a trillon dollar company they can sell both xboxes at 99 dollars for a year and get them in homes they fucked up the xbox brand so bad

like i said at 99 dollars thats an impulse buy i dont even think about it
I would certainly get a series X if it dropped below 300 (Im not settling for s). BUT I already have a ps5 and switch, so its hard for me to justify another expensive console when whatever little time I have to play is already spent on these two. I imagine a lot of people feel the same.
the xbox brand is toastseems likely. With nintendo doing their own thing, Sony is probably gonna have a monoply on the HD console market.

XBOX Game Pass has "Flat Lined".
They missed their own needed minimum subscriber base to make XBOX Game Pass Subscritpion viable, they are WAY under their own projections, much less being sustainable.
XBOX Game Pass is burning alot of $$$ in their pockets, with no trend to sustainability.
MS should've never given up the traditional gaming model, this crazy bet for "XBOX Game Pass" was a MAJOR failure and it's going to cost MS ALOT, it might even force them out of the hardware business.
The best solution for MS is to give up the hardware business, close down XBOX Game Pass, become like Sega, and just publish games.
That's their best road to profitability.
Literally everybody IRL I know is familiar with the Xbox 360, but has no idea what came after or what the current Xboxes are. It was really interesting how popular the 360 was and how they squandered the brand moving forward.
Honestly, I'm tempted to get a Series X for 2 very obscure personal reasons: 4k 60fps Ninja Gaiden 2, and split-screen Halo. Those are experiences you can't easily get elsewhere, including PC.
PS+ was always better than GamePass. Xbros flexed the GamePass so hard without even looking into whether Sony had a better equivalent.nah, i was able to get 4 years of gamepass(ultimate) for $112. Way more value than ps+

nah, i was able to get 4 years of gamepass(ultimate) for $112. Way more value than ps+And yet the games offered on PS+ were wayyyy better.
What's the market breakdown for the Xbox Series and PS5 consoles? The first post mentions performance in Europe, and MS has always had a problem making inroads there, at least outside the UK. Same with Japan. I imagine the gap is much closer in North America. The 360 outsold the PS3 by a pretty decent margin the US, and it was the PS3's lead Europe and Japan that gave it the worldwide edge. So what can MS do in those markets? Is Japan always going to be a lost cause for an outside competitor?
So, what's the issue here with Xbox? I'm not sure I'm following.
Why are they on the fence?
So, what's the issue here with Xbox? I'm not sure I'm following.Just.....various things piling up on'em pretty much.
I know a lot of people who got a 360 because their friends were playing the new CoD on it so they wanted to play with them. I got it for similar reasons but also because Xbox was hitting the Japanese market and even had exclusives plus I was a huge fan of Fable.
I switched to the PS4 because I stopped playing CoD and PS4's focus was something I preferred. Xbox One...I can't even name a game from there except Sunset Overdrive...oh and Halo and Gears of War.
Just.....various things piling up on'em pretty much.
I can at least say that I used to be a crazy huge gears of war fan but gears 4 and 5 just hasn't clicked with me as much as those did. I think halo fans is sort of in the same boat with most liking 3 when it comes to MP and the rest of the halos not quite hitting that high note for them. I think forza is ok, but microsoft haven't been really doing anything with the IPs they have in comparison to nintendo and their stuff and sony with their IPs like last of us, horizon, god of war, ratchet and clank, the deals they have for marvel games like spider-man/upcoming wolverine etc. Like with all the money they poses where has a new fable game been?.....aside from getting cancelled. Things like that.
Another thing that probably isn't a major issue but is something that definitely effects a gamer like me is that the xbox just keeps missing out on those random smaller releases. I'm talking things like star ocean 2 R. Something like this comes enough of a habit to the point where people just get it ingrained into their head to stick with either a playstation or a nintendo console for these types of releases.
It just isn't the same like it was with the first few years of the 360's life when they were locking down 3rd party releases, pushing out IPs and actually had a string of real good indie or older console game releases going on xbox live arcade.
I really like Game Pass, though. And it's will be on every damn thing that can handle it if they do stop making xbox
