This is not a hot take, todays music is dogshitok boomer
Disturbed's Sound of Silence is a great coverWatch it with that hot take. You dont wanna burn your house down.
nightcore is garbage, universally
Huey Lewis and the News's early work was a little too new wave for my tastes, but when Sports came out in '83, I think they really came into their own, commercial and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far much more bitter, cynical sense of humour.
In '87, Huey released Fore, their most accomplished album. I think their undisputed masterpiece is "Hip to be Square", a song so catchy, most people probably don't listen to the lyrics. But they should, because it's not just about the pleasures of conformity, and the importance of trends, it's also a personal statement about the band itself.I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where Phil Collins' presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums.
The Beatles suck.
There are zero great rock bands making new music today. Has been that way since 2010. No one has been able to prove that to me personally. I believe that people just lower their standards every decade since then.I like alt rock, but in terms of hard rock, it just feels out of date no matter what they do. The music that's about being angry or sex just comes off as appealing to older dudes, while the rest of the world grew up.
I can't help but think that people who say Alien Ant Farm's cover of Smooth Criminal is better than the original say so with racism being a slight factorYou know, it is possible for someone to criticize or critique a black person or their work without it coming from racism. And while I do enjoy AAFs cover, it is not better than MJs version.
It's a stretch but it's just my auto conclusion every single time that topic comes up

And while I do enjoy AAFs cover, it is not better than MJs version.I personally wouldn't call it "better" either. It's just a goofy, fun and kinda meme-able take on the original. I don't think there's anything wrong with liking either version or both.

It's a stretch
I actually really like the song "Drops of Jupiter" by TrainI got that album as a kid because of that song.
fuck every other song, though

I actually really like the song "Drops of Jupiter" by TrainDrive By isn't terrible either. A lot better than typical for Train at least.
fuck every other song, though
Also Aerosmith is fucking terrible and always has beenMostly agree. I dont like them but like Dream On and Toys in the Attic. Always weirded out when bands are writing teen anthems well into their 40s. Theres some late era Bon Jovi songs that should be embarrassing.
Skits on rap albums are hardly ever interesting and I don't get why we're still doing them in 2024.Now this i totally agree with. Some of my otherwise favorite rap albums will just have jarring skits that do nothing to make the album better
One exception being is despite hearing pink Floyd's first I prefer Korns another brick in the wallThat, my friend is sacrilege.
Limp Bizkit wasn't good back when they were popular and they still aren't.Check out their new video, they look so old.
Here's a couple of more:The thing about Kiss is, with their image and reputation, one might assume they are some edgy hard rock/metal act, then you listen to them and are disappointed to hear catchy pop rock. Not there is any thing wrong with pop rock.
KISS has some fun songs and they get hated too much. They're far from the greatest band ever, but they have a few cool songs in a turn off your brain way. It's dumb fun like fast food for your ears.
Never got the complaint of "all AC/DC songs sound the same". What do you want, a deep political song? Jazz odyssey? They do all sound the same. Once again not necessarily a bad thing. Brian Johnson is great, but it is such a shame that Bon Scott had to die.
