Yes the only way to have freedom is to support a garbage social media platform operated by the Chinese government to promote crime in Western countries so that China can feel better about being a garbage country.
It's the only way!

No, I won't. Social media causes directly and indirectly a lot of harm to millions of people. It desperately needs to be stronger regulated and moderated. As long as the companies can't guarantee that, I'm not against speaking out bans. Especially if these platforms come from countries with questionable intentions. It shouldn't stop with Tiktok. Other platforms like Facebook, Twitter or Telegram should also held accountable for tolerating criminal content on their platforms. And niche video game forums and their mountain of right wingers.
And niche video game forums and their mountain of right wingers.which site?
According to research published Thursday by Felix Krause, a Vienna-based software researcher, when TikTok users access a website through a link in the TikTok app, the app inserts code into the website that allows TikTok to monitor activity like keystrokes and what users are tapping on that site.
which site? All of them. After all, the FBI has also designated Gamers as likely extremists.
Tiktok literally injects key logging code into your browser whenever you visit a link through the app. I keep bringing this up and people keep ignoring it. I'm hoping it's not because tiktok investigated itself and determined that they totally only use that code for debugging.

Over 100 million Americans use the social media app TikTok
That's crazy.
Anyway those youtube shorts are pretty much the same annoying format. Why don't the tiktokers just move there. Plus it has twice as many users.

I absolutely agree with the idea that are personal and private information absolutely needs to have stronger protections so it can not be used in dubious ways. It's bad that the internet has largely turned into a vehicle to harvest our information. They're doing this so they can scream about Communism for November.
What the TikTok ban has failed to demonstrate is how TikTok is doing this demonstratively worse than Facebook, Google, Twitter, etc. Beyond the fact that it's Chinese-owned. If they were really concerned about our user information, they would have passed a law protecting that, not just banning a platform they didn't like.
If TikTok goes away, you know you guys can just go to Instagram to see girls shake their tits.I don't use tiktok
I was watching clips of a guy pumping up a water balloon till it popped (1 pump per like donation lol) yesterday
Why do people think tiktok is just for lewd content???

Krause's research looked at more than just TikTok. In total, he tested seven iPhone apps that use in-app browsers, including TikTok, Facebook, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, Snapchat, Amazon and Robinhood. Of those, TikTok is the only one that appears to monitor keystrokes , Krause said. Krause didn't test the Android version of TikTok's app.

But does it stop if TikTok gets sold to an American company, stopping the ban?

We need rules in place to stop that behavior and punishments in place to make it not worth doing it anyway. A blanket ban of Tiktok doesn't do that.
Chinese companies are subject to a national security law requiring them to share data with the government on request.
TikTok has tried to reassure regulators that it has taken steps to ensure the data of its 150 million users in the US has been walled off from ByteDance employees in China.
However, an investigation by the Wall Street Journal in January found the system was still "porous", with data being unofficially shared between TikTok in the US and ByteDance in China. High-profile cases, including one incident where ByteDance employees in China accessed a journalist's data to track down their sources, have stoked concerns.

Ahhhh, thankyou, thankyou for outing yourself as fascists good to know!Your post shows exactly what is wrong with social media. You label me even though you know nothing about me. How can you look in the mirror with a clear conscience knowing that you are insulting people you know absolutely nothing about? I leave a lot of good in the world by respecting all general rules and treating everyone around me equally. I never insult anyone if there isn't a real reason for it, and not before I know about the facts, the person and the circumstances. You, on the other hand, just insult people and randomly label them how you see fit, just because you disagree with them on a single topic. How is that kind of behaviour progressive or mature?
