A prime minister unable to return, violent gangs in control of the capital and dead bodies piling up on the streets: Haiti is currently a nation about as close to a failed state as it's possible to be.
Huh. How do you come back from that?
It really can't be overstated just how badly the rest of the world has failed Haiti over the course of its history.
Haiti remains my go-to counter to every moronic conservative pointing to Venezuela as proof that socialism doesn't work.
Yeah, the current Prime Minister planned the assassination of the last one per the judge who oversaw the case.Pretty much.

<_>
I've read this over 3 times and I don't get it. Haiti, the failed state, is the counter to the antisocialist argument?
Conservatives often point to Venezuela as proof that socialism doesn't work. In so doing, they ignore all the examples of successfully implemented socialist policies (particularly regarding healthcare) in other, more successful countries. By highlighting Haiti, a capitalist country screwed over by other capitalist countries, one demonstrates how flawed an argument predicated on cherrypicked examples is.
I wonder if Wyclef Jean

This dude literally stole millions from hurricane relief charity for Haiti. Why do you want him to do anything?
but conan assured me it was paradise on earthO'Brien or Destroyer?

Could another country step in to temporarily take over the country, then once they have the situation under control, hand it over to a caretaker Government until elections could be held?
It just seems rather sad that the country has been in decline for decades. I wonder if Wyclef Jean & Jimmy Jean-Louis could use their celebrity status as famous Haitians to call for an end to the violence.

Saw that a lot of people were posting videos online of that Barbecue guy eating someone's leg. This is fucking insane.Wait for real?
So is the government the villain, or the gangs, or is it two crappy groups ruining it for the innocent civilians?In the end, everything is the US fault, isn't it.
I know the US pretty much ruined the place years ago, but what else is going on here?

If I remember right, the first nation to fuck over Haiti was France
