idk shit about gunpla
but can you explain the difference between the tamiya and other glues? (i use tamiya ultra thin for warhammer)
Oh what the fuck, I would've loved to have known about this. I was just looking at gunpla kits on Amazon yesterday since I've been getting back into Gundam.Still want the Nu Gundam and the Turn-A and maybe Aerial too
Super glue is an adhesive that bonds mechanically. Tamiya extra thin cement is a solvent that melts/softens the plastic to fuse it together.
i know the difference between plastic and CA glue lolTC does't have glues in that image? There's 2 varnishes, a panel line liquid and a decal softener.
i meant specifically the 3 glue(?) products you have

Anyways, haven't build either the MG Eclipse or the MGEX Strike Freedom, but I'm pretty sure the Eclipse is based on the Freedom 2.0 and that kit is awesome.
Also, disregard spray cans, embrace air bushing :3
I don't have the MGEX, just the base MG but that one looks f'n awesome. The MG Strike Freedom was fun as f to build so I'm am pretty sure the MGEX will be fun too. But I think you are making a mistake with the Gloss top coat. I'd go matte with the exception of the gold pieces.
Nice! Can I make a recommendation?

Also, anyone have any suggestions for starting my journey into panel lining and painting? For panel lining, if you wanna use the Tamiya stuff you gotta gloss varnish the model first. If you wanna do it on bare plastic use acrylic washes or the pour type Gundam panel liners.

If you want to get into painting, I suggest investing in an airbrush and an air compressor. A good airbrush is more important than an expensive compressor.

He got some acrylic in that first pic.
Panel lining was a kind of experiment for me though. At first, I tried using Gundam markers, usually black. Didn't really like the results of it. Tried air brushing the panel lines, hated that even more. Then I went with the dab method with the dark gray and rust brown panel liner mixed with a little more alcohol mixed in. I believe that gives a softer visual than black would.
If you want to air brush and you never used one, I would practice on cheap models first. Get a feel with using the brush. Again, as LordFarquad mentioned, the airbrush is more important than the compressor. Start out cheap and work your way up to a nice double-action air brush.
Nice. One day I'm going to try a MG. I prefer the smaller HGs and RGs. I still use pens for panel lining. I'm no good with brushes. It's why I don't paint much even if I really want to because I can't get a sprayer and compressor. I hate how even just looking at the ink hard enough makes it fade. I've wanted to try scribing some old HGs to make them pop more, but I worry I'm going to mess it up or break something.
