was the guy in the clip smurfing or is it a jokeIt's not a joke, he was actually banned.
It's not a joke, he was actually banned.
I don't follow DotA at all, just ran across this on reddit, but the comments there all agree that this dude's ban was completely justified.
Okay I looked at the reddit thread about it and apparently he paid someone to "boost" his account to make his behavior score better.Yeah, I was about to come say. He's apparently kind of a toxic asshole, but he either pays or gets his chat to boost his behavior score to avoid the repercussions.
What's smurfing again?When you're too good
What's smurfing again? When you're really good at a game but intentionally tank your MMR to play against low-skilled players.

Ah, so something like seal clubbing.Um
Damn winning at videogames is serious business these days.
What if you just don't open it
That's incredible. The taunts that unlocked were icing on the cake.Apparently that was a bug, albeit a hilarious one.
Good question. I assume it still goes into effect or the game won't let you boot it up unless you open it or something.Going by reddit comments, you're banned either way, most people just pop open their gifts before trying to start a game.
Sounded like he said until 1/18He did.
Some people also smurf when they can't win at rank in their own elo, that they make a new account to beat people who aren't as good as them. What's the functional difference between that and the "level 19 twink running PvP Battlegrounds in vanilla WoW," anyway?
Smurfing?Intentionally tanking your MMR or creating new accounts to play against lower skilled players. So you'd have like high diamond or pro players intentionally ruining games for new and/or bad players. I guess it was becoming a major issue in DotA, so Valve made it against the TOS.
What's the functional difference between that and the "level 19 twink running PvP Battlegrounds in vanilla WoW," anyway?Valve banned one and Blizzard didn't ban the other.

Well, I guess Blizzard did kind of ban it by making battlegrounds give XP. You can turn off XP gain, but that puts you in a separate BGs queue with other people that turned it off. For some reason, most twinks stopped doing it when they went up against other twinks instead of just dominating normal players in min/maxed gear.
