I bite so much. Wish I could stop. clipping helps keep them short enough i don't bite them, but sometimes i miss.
I paint my nails which helps me not bite them, but once they start chipping, i start biting.

I "bite" my fingernails in the sense that I bite a corner so can peel the rest of it off when it starts getting too long, which is what I assumed everyone did until I learned that "nail biters" are some frowned upon subsection of society.
Are we the baddies?

Bite. I can't stop. I've gotten a lot better, though. When I was younger, I'd bite them to stubs and they'd bleed and be really painful.

I also pick constantly at my cuticles. If I don't have something occupying my hands, I'm picking at my fingers.
How do I feel this good sober?

I stopped biting my nails 7 years ago. Ever since I heard that it was bad for your teeth. Been using nail clippers since then. It took a lot of will power to quit cold turkey. Crazy that I spent 15 years of my existence biting them

I bite, but I do a controlled bite. Let them get a little long, then gently bit the side of the nail and slowly pull it as it disconnects. I usually have pretty straight nails but the method isn't always perfect and every so often I get hang nails or pull too much. It heals in a couple of days though so not a big deal besides being annoying for a little bit.

Edit: forgot to add that I don't use clippers or filers cause they hurt when I use them. Biting hurts less and I have more control and I can make the nail more even then using either of those.

Biter, but I dont think its a nervous habit, just something I do. Maybe clipper would be better, I just dont have them, and never think to have them.
