I ask because movies and TV shows are usually filmed at 24fps, so I assume that people who watch a lot of movies and TV shows are used to that and can easily transition to 30fps in games

I honestly don't notice fps in video games unless there's slowdown. If a game runs at 30fps with no slowdown or lag I have zero complaints

I am fine with 30fps in games and watch a lot of cartoons.

I have strong opinions. https://linktr.ee/KalloFox34

I hate 30fps in movies and tv shows as well. Always hurts my eyes, especially with long panning shots

All the more reason to hate them then

This for me, honestly. Unless a game has a ton of lag or chop, I almost never notice framerate at all. I couldn't even tell you what the framerate of most games I play is, because it all looks more or less the same to me.

That being said...

I can tell the difference between 24fps and 48fps when it comes to movies/TV. And 48 looks like shit.

Framerate in games is about responsiveness to your inputs, not visual fidelity. That's a nonissue in passive media like movies.
And with that... pow! I'm gone!

I can tell the difference, but generally only when I can make a direct comparison, like going between playing Mario Kart 8 on the WiiU with 1-2 players to 3-4 players (or vice versa). Give me something in a vacuum, and I generally don't notice the framerate unless it's really bad (and by "really bad," I mean like 10, not anything sub-60 like some people insist is unplayable).

Let alone 60fps.

I saw someone recreate a scene from Puss in Boots: The Last Wish in 60fps and it looked awful.

I do.

I don't hate 30fps, but I feel once a game goes 60fps, it should stay that way.

Also, it's not that you want 60fps persay - you want seemlessness. If all the action is slow you can get seemlessness at 24fps, if it's ultra high speed you need like 1000fps

There're a lot of technical differences between playing a game at 60FPS and watching a film at 24FPS. They're not really a straight-across comparison.

I play most games 60+ frames and I have a 165hz monitor so as close to 165hz is my preference.

Don't watch many movies but the 1st spiderverse movie made me mad even tho I know it's a choice.

But yea, it's more like you need fluid input and output, I could probably watch TAS replays of video games at 24 frames n not give a shit.
So I was standing still at a stationary store...
You can absolutely tell. It looks buttery smooth for games but unnatural sometimes for live action. Spiderverse and the tmnt movie took a considerable time to adjust to before i could get immersed without being jarred by the frame rate though.
I recall seeing the old movie "Shane" made up like this.

It didn't look terrible, just weird.

Like the way they film those TV soaps.

Assuming it's the same thing were debating.

Back in the CRT days you only needed 30 fps since it would render half the screen at a time - the blurring would make it look good.

Ever since progressive scan (and better) TVs have come around you need 60 just to look like how 30 USED to look like

30fps is fine by me and yeah I watch a lot of movies.

I voted other. I cannot tell the difference and do not understand why people care.
.
Steady 30 is fine for me. But the difference between 30 and 60 is very noticeable, and you kinda prefer the latter.

It is clear the framerate is different between say....BOTW vs Call of Duty. But i like the Mario Kart Wii single player vs MKW 4 player example above.

I don't mind 30 fps. Same way I don't mind CRT. But I recognise 60 fps is superior for videogames.

Saying that though, I'm someone who would say 1080p is fine and I don't need 8k

Voted other. Frame rate is not something i think about or care about at all, aside from when a game gets starts having issues with stutter/lag. I've tried watching comparison stuff and i just cannot easily tell the difference between high/low frame rate.

i don't really watch TV/movies much anymore.

Watching shows, etc. in a low framerate doesn't bother me like it would playing a game. Low visual quality is sort of the same way.
