5, though slay the spire and hades were the only ones I stuck with long enough to reach the end.
And with that... pow! I'm gone!
7, only actually 'beat' One Step From Eden (I cleared a couple of challenge difficulties) but I got far in Hades and Inscryption ( act 3 started to drag real hard and had little of the appeal of act 1 despite being almost the same. both way better than act 2 tho ), and I had a decent number of runs in Loop Hero

you should try Balatro (poker deckbuilder) and Against The Storm (RTS citybuilder where you have to spec into certain buildings and supply chains)

Yeah act 2/3 of inscription weren't that great but I enjoyed three more gameplaywise. It was the story that was really worth sticking around for. Kaycees mod is where I got most of my playtime from though, where you can just keep replaying act one.

I am really looking forward to playing Against the Storm and Balatro, I just have so many games at any given time that it only makes sense for me to get games at a steep discount.

Currently playing through Dave of the Diver, after just beating Pizza Tower.

I actually reinstalled (last time I played, I made it to early act 2 ) to play that but then quickly discovered I sucked at the game and would have more fun just replaying the main game as far as I could manage

Only 3 and Brotato is the only one I've really put a decent amount of time into.
Binding of Isaac Rebirth - Only the original.
Don't Starve - Tried it, not my thing.
Crypt of the Necrodancer - I sucked at keeping to the rhythm.
Dead Estate - Got that one recently, finished the first level.
Hades - I liked this one. I've only gotten as far as the second part once though.
Loop Hero - I liked this one. Still not all that far, but got 17 / 50 achievements.
Rogue Legacy - I'm terrible at this one.
Vampire Hunters - Gave it a go, prefer other such games to be honest.
Nuclear Throne - This one was cool. Still never played much, but was nice.

Actually curious if you played one, A Robot Named Fight! for Switch / PC. Metroidvania style roguelike.

Such a great card. I love abusing the one mechanic where you had the sacrifice a monster but it comes back stronger but since it keeps reviving it just keeps getting stronger.

Not so much specific genre. I just need to get interested in the game to stick to it. Doesn't happen often enough now. Recently beaten Full Void, and right now I'm playing Terminator: Resistance and Crime O'Clock on PC, along with FGO which I've been wasting time on for years now. Along the line of roguelikes, I was playing Elemental Survivors but haven't played for a few days now. -_-

Oh, for each one I didn't immediately recognize, I looked them up on Steam. Some of them, that was enough to remind me which game it was so I could say I just hadn't played it, others, that confirmed that it wasn't one I recognized. A couple of them did seem interesting, though I've got more than enough of a backlog at this point to buy anything short of "I definitely want this to play right now."

Don't I ever know that. Massive backlog I could be playing right now and instead I'm posting on GameFAQs

I actually catalogued mine a couple months ago, and set myself the arbitrary goal of finishing 30 of them this year. 860 games with an estimated total playtime of 770 days. A ton of those were giveaways or bundled games that I don't actually care that much about, so I'm unlikely to play those much beyond giving them a quick try to confirm that I want to retire them, but it's still a lot, and I do want to give them an actual try to definitively write them off, rather than letting them languish in backlog limbo indefinitely.
This is my signature. It exists to keep people from skipping the last line of my posts.
Interesting, I've cataloged my games in a different way.

Since I have thousands of games, as soon as I get a new game that I actually am interested in playing, I'll put it in a category on Steam called "Play Next" which acts as my "True" library since it's a lot more digestible. If a game doesn't interest me right away I'll usually remove it.

Then I'll throw all of my favorite games into steam's favorite category so that I can occasionally scroll through them and have my eyes glow with nostalgia or longing (lol).
twylite sprinkle
http://tinyurl.com/jeqyas3 https://tinyurl.com/mgvx7h2
I just order my games by last used, so the more interested in a game I am the higher it is, and a game I never play gets further and further away. I can browse down the list for games I forgot about and if I play it for a moment it goes back to the top.

(but uh... being old sucks... some games I remember playing not long ago I actually last played 10+ years ago...)

Omg that's actually the best part is seeing how long ago you got the achievement so you can sit there and smolder nostalgia about how long ago that was

That's actually why I wanted the long dark to have more achievements since it's one of the games I've come back to the most and it doesn't have that many progressive achievements, more like just ones after you've done a ridiculous amount of one thing and also a lot of them being locked behind the story.

When I made a topic about wanting more achievements on the steamboards a bunch of users flamed me and said I just wanted easy and that I needed to get good not understanding what I was after

basically you sign in and it scans your steam profile and you get fake points based on achievement rarity.

Here's my exophase profile, for example:

So fake points but not fake achievements?

The reason I like Steam achievements is not because I'm a completionist but because they time stamp when I was actively playing the game.

Like I can look at a game and say "Oh I played this a lot in February of 2017, And then I picked it back up in 2019 of December." If a game has enough achievements I can see across how many months I played a singular game.

I'll still remove games that I'm fairly certain I won't enjoy, but I tend to at least want to give everything a chance if it looks even remotely interesting, which means my library still grows pretty quickly. I was also a little late to do anything to prioritize, plus my library is spread over multiple storefronts and that means I needed some other solution for cataloguing them. I went with HowLongtoBeat, which let me sort everything pretty effectively and also includes a convenient random button to help pick out what to play next and encourage me to try and write off things I might not have tried playing if not for an external influence telling me to. I'm pretty happy with it so far.

The problem with that is that so many of my games have just never been played at all, so "last used" isn't a record of how long it's been since I played a game so much as it's a record of how long I've had a game without touching it. Toss in things being split across multiple libraries so I can't order it between them, and I just couldn't keep track.

Some? Almost all of them if not all are roguelites. Crypt is the only one that's the closest to being a roguelike and some would argue it isn't. I would.

Anyway have you tried out Cogmind or Rift Wizard? Tales of Maj'Eyal? Maybe Cataclysm Dark Days Ahead.

  • One step from Eden - Tried, refunded
  • Slay the Spire - ~1400 hours, in my top 5 games
  • Monster Train - ~300 hours
  • Dont Starve - Tried, refunded
  • Faster than Light - ~45 hours
  • Into the Breach - 2-3 hours, probably would've refunded if i hadn't gone over the 2 hour limit for a refund.
  • Inscryption - Tried, refunded
  • Hades - ~90 hours
  • Undermine - Tried, refunded
  • Ratropolis - Tried, refunded

Haven't played the rest. I don't think the refunded games are bad, sometimes its just a matter of it being on sale and not really feeling it.

I'd recommend trying Wildfrost if you haven't. Its a neat twist on deckbuilders. It uses an action count down system instead of mana. You have item cards and hero cards. Heroes are placed in a 3x2 facing the enemy's 3x2 board. Every hero and enemy has a count down until the next time they act. When you play item cards, or put a hero down on the board all allies and enemies count down by 1. I got about 200 hours in it. You can move heroes around freely between playing cards, which is vital, because if your main hero dies, you lose the run, and there's a set pattern to the attack order, so if a dangerous enemy is going to go after you play your next card, you can move them around so a less important hero takes the hit instead. Its really cool.

Slay the Spire
Crypt of the Necrodancer
Hades
Rogue Legacy

Played Slay the Spire inside and out, and still play with mods. I was never very good at the rhythm of Necrodancer so I mainly stuck with the character that doesn't require rhythm. Platinumed Eden, and just started Hades. Rogue Legacy was my first roguelite (I was already into roguelikes) and it holds a special place for me.
