You know the ones, its like 20-something white guys that have never played a game that didnt have Call of Duty in the title, desperately trying to convince you that gaming and creativity are dead. In 2023. Whats up with that?

I do, but in my experience it is usually mid-late 30 somethings who think that Deus Ex was the epitome of gaming and that nothing has ever surpassed it in the 23 years since it's release.

...or that could just be the Youtube algorithm thinking that is what I want to see.

I don't actually know what you mean because I haven't seen those videos but I do believe the AAA industry is creatively bankrupt and I also believe there's a sizeable amount of people who are victims of the whole dopamine thing that video games sometimes prey on.

Yeah, how many great games came out in 2023 alone? Oh right, too many to fucking count already.

Those pop up for me every now and then but I just ignore them. Most of them seem to come from channels that are just banking on being negative about everything anyway. There's a lot of problems with modern gaming and being dead and uncreative isn't it. In fact, a number of those problems are because its thriving too much and devs are able to exploit that to an extreme degree.

Are you asking if I think gaming is bad? Or if I think recent games are bad? Either way, absolutely not. Its a hobby, just like any other. And its fun. Ive had fun with the games that have come out recently I have too many to play right now, as well

Not really. Sure, the AAA space is a bunch of derivative bandwagon-hopping, but that's nothing new, and I've had zero difficulty finding things I want to play/have fun playing.
