The vast majority of our visual receptors are light/dark and unrelated to color, we have entirely different colors that are just darker versions of other colors. For example, brown is just dark orange, and a lot of languages don't distinguish different colors, like Japanese doesn't inherently distinguish blue from green, and Russian considers light blue completely different from blue and not just a shade.
