i like both sports
They both suck to watch at a professional level.
They both suck to watch at a professional level. Football is 15 minutes of gameplay and then the rest is commercials and old guys giving commentary. Soccer's main issues could be solved by making it a contact sport. Football is better either way, though.
Hockey
Soccer is a fairy sport.

European style promotion and relegation would make the NFL a hell of lot better, though.

This sounds like an American thing, like how Americans think the rest of the world is anti-semitic to defend their nonsense.
It's called football everywhere except the US. Because, well, it's about playing with a ball and your feet.
American football is mostly about holding the ball and throwing so it should look for a better name. (Handball is already taken by another sport.) Handegg sounds dumb.
The only fun thing about football (soccer for americans) is the competitiveness between countries every 2 year when there's a continental or world cup. During (semi or quarter) finals nobody goes to work and the streets are empty.
I don't care about club football and the multi millionaires playing their (sometimes fixed) matches.
Soccer. Can't stand American football - way too much stopping and starting. I like games that have actual flow to them (hockey, basketball, soccer, etc.).
I was actually pleasantly surprised when an Australian friend of mine made me sit down and watch a rugby game, because it was like American football from some parallel universe where American football was actually interesting.

so people running around but barely ever scoring is interesting? games ending in draws is interesting? adding time back to the clock is interesting? just pause the clock and then resume, its the same damn thing only better
