Poll of the Day » Your favourite among these iconic fictional movie supercars
Which of the following automobiles is your favourite and why?

I did some research and excluded movie cars that are either too common and without any fictional properties and also appear in a lot of films (Mustang, Dodge Challenger), or vehicles that, based on visual form and overall function, doubtfully can be called a car (Tumbler tank/car) but its just my opinion maybe you disagree. I was about to exclude the Batmobile from Burtons Batman films but I let it pass as it was based on a Chevrolet Impala chassis and you can see a car beneath all the modifications as opposed to the Tumbler.

Speaking of the Batmobiles, I chose to only list one, as there are several different types and the 1989 version is widely regarded as one of the most, if not the most, iconic movie version next to the 1960s one but I think a lot of people here havent even heard about it.

Finally, I chose to exclude cars from TV series as there are too many to count.

My favourite is the Mad Max Pursuit Special, or Interceptor as its also called, from Mad Max 2/The Road Warrior.
Its a heavily modified Ford Falcon XP GT with 600hp (stated in Mad Max from 1979) and a distinctive supercharger. I specifically prefer the weathered and beaten version in The Road Warrior. Just a mean, rusty and very fast post apocalyptic car.

DeLorean. Time travel.
DB5, you can drive that and not look like a weirdo
Rudy sucks
Pursuit Special.

Mad Max is my all-time favorite movie.

I like the Yellow and Blue one from the first movie, too.

Interesting results so far, no love for the Ecto-1 so far lol.

@Far-Queue yeah those Main Force Patrol vehicles are also awesome.

The nicest car and the only one I would consider owning is the DB5 but the DeLorean will always have a special place in my cold, black heart.
They're all pretty awesome though.

Literally none of them are supercars.

What the f*ok is that ting? :D

On a serious note though I dont think its as recognizable and iconic as these other ones but I could be wrong I guess. Maybe theres a huge Speed Racer fan base that Im unaware of.

I think the film was based on a comic if Im not mistaken?

Of those, and ONLY those, I'd probably go with "The last of the V8 Interceptors".

But most of that list wouldn't be in my all-time top 5 of fancy cars from movies, TV shows, games, books, and etc.

(I might not even include that particular car for Bond, because I always had a bit more fondness for the Lotus from The Spy Who Loved Me.)

Also, I'm posting this now, because I can:

what of the Trans Am from Smokey And The Bandit ??

Ecto-1 for sure
All praise Mead
@ParanoidObsessive

Personally I find the Lotus Esprit car/submarine way cooler than the old DB5, but I think the latter is more recognized among the general audience.

If Id included cars from TV-series and games (which would require way more voting slots) I would among other cars add the KITT 2000 talking Pontiac Trans Am from Knight Rider. Awesome black car with red terminator lights.

One of my personal favourites is the advanced Dodge Viper Defender from the TV-series Viper.

db5.

i don't remember the name of the company, but a car company denied their request to use one of their cars for the very first bond movie. obviously no car company has made that mistake since.
Wow that was obviously a huge mistake to say the least.
A company having a new car model in a Bond movie is the greatest compliment, honour and marketing campaign you could ever wish for. Especially if the camera sweeps around the interior and exterior as much as possible.

Well if it was for the very first film nobody knew what the series was going to grow into. The budget for Dr. No was small, so it probably didn't inspire a lot of confidence that the movie was going to be a blockbuster.
As a fan of Batman and Ghostbusters, I have to say the DeLorean. Even if it wasn't for the fact that it's a time machine, it's simply more practical to use as a car. (Can't really comment on the last one since I didn't see it lol)

I voted for the Batmobile because why not?

Got to vote Batmobile I'm afraid although the DeLorean is cool AF. Although the same could be said about KITT from Knight Rider. That's a Pontiac Firebird/Ford Shelby GT500KR depending the version.

I was at a card and comic book show over a decade ago that had Adam West and Burt Ward as guests, and the Batmobile and Batboat from the show were there, too

I know this isnt a widespread result analysis but it could be an indication that the DeLorean is the most popular and liked fictional movie car (again, fictional cars from movies not TV-series- that are aesthetically unique for a film and/or equipped with special gadgetry)

Whats your guess?

The Batmobile by far.

Of course, practically speaking, if I was offered one of these vehicles, I'd obviously take the DB5 because it's not as conspicuous and it'd be easier to drive.

Joke or not, thats a car I couldve added in hindsight considering the popularity of Pixar movies. It didnt cross my mind, maybe because its a fairly new entry and also an animation (not that it really matters, its a car)

'Batmobile (Tim Burton's 1989 Batman)'

Mostly by process of elimination. Liking the Batmobile as a youth is probably what caused me to prefer sports cars over big trucks (unlike the rest of my family).

The Ecto-1 is cool until you realize its just a souped up ambulance. Also, the Twisted Metal games somewhat took that ambulance design and 'grunged' it up over time.
No herbie ( the love bug)?

I know, the Ecto-1 is more of a charming model but a very recognisable movie car.
Speaking of charming:

Its an iconic WV Beetle for sure, probably the most famous one. Maybe I shouldve added Herbie as well.
I think the list I made is pretty good good though.

Oh, plus my favorite movie version of the Batmobile was the one seen in Returns. In addition to the armored mode, I liked how it split into a smaller version. It looked like the coolest fucking thing although, in retrospect, that scene made no sense because why the fuck would you have an alley that small?

Wrong.

It could be both a hearse or an ambulance, as the model was designed to be used for different purposes, but! :

Ecto-1 was ordered with more ambulance parts than others such as the step bumper and 4 deck lights. This was common in rural areas as sometimes the local funeral home coach also doubled as the town ambulance.

DeLorean, since it flies at the end of the first film, you get a flying car on top of getting a time machine.
