Steam sales tend to make that a "yes".

I've done it too many times.

Last game I rented was Final Fantasy X back when it was new so I've bought every game since then without having played it.

Always. Since the 8-bit computer days. Read reviews, buy games that seem interesting. Occasionally take a flyer on a bargain bin game, hoping for a hidden gem.

Demos often don't reflect the real game, for example, Monster Hunter is a big offender.

Everything is awesome
Hell, I have games that have been on my shelf/hard drive for years that still haven't been played.

No, never! What crazy person would do that?
Demos are a relic of the past.
My friends call me Vee.
I'm not your friend, buddy.
Just about every game I've ever bought.
Like everybody so far, yes.

Last game I rented/demo'd first is DOOM (2016).

Constantly, thanks to the lack of demos.

Not exactly, they've just been replaced with alphas/betas/early access. Although much of that is for multiplayer.

You do still see demos and free trials for single player games, though. They're no where near extinct just yet.

Except those require you commit to a purchase to mess with them. Demos are supposed to be a cost-free way of experiencing something before settling on it.

I mostly play on PS4, and they have demo trials fairly often. Completely free. Does Steam not offer anything like that?

I've purchased games without checking out any media for them (trailers, pics)

I cant fathom anyone with a half decently sized library that actually tried out every game before buying it.

I feel like I know my tastes well enough to determine if I'll like a game before I buy it.

I think Steam games go with the logic that "people only really buy on sale anyway, why bother with a demo".

Also the refund system lets you refund games within two hours of playtime, which is a good length for a demo anyway.

I've bought literally hundreds of games without ever having played them prior to the purchase. I've even bought games just on a wim because the box interested me or something. I think I've only played 20 demos in my life & I've never rented a game before. I would much rather buy a game & grow my collection then just rent it for the weekend. But that's coming from a collector so... take it with a grain of salt.

I miss demo discs
Do you guys remember when funcoland would let you play games before buying them? Good times.
all the time, ok?

i'd say 98% of the games i buy i haven't played before, ok?
I have downloaded some android games before playing. :P

i don't rent games. games very rarely have demos/free trials/betas.

so yes.
Well i guess unless i signed up for Gamefly there really isn't away to try a game before buying it anymore?
I don't think there is a single rental store anywhere in my state anymore.
I guess a better question for me would be if you ever bought a game without reading a review or even previewing it.
^
some stores hae redbox for videogames
Only fighting games.
100% sure I will like any fighting game.
::I want to break free::
The video rental places by me didn't rent Game Boy games. You didn't really have much choice but to buy them and hope for the best.

Even with games I could rent, though, no, I didn't always rent them first. I'd suspect most people didn't always rent them first.

At first I thought it was an absurdly stupid question, then I realized it was being asked by a gimmick alt.
