Captain Phasma in my opinion. It still bothers me that shewillingly turned off the shield, all from that one console, and put the entire planet into danger to save her own life. Hell, she probably blew up inside the trash compactor.
Poe though I feltcontributed more to the overall movie and story and actually demonstrated why he was Black Leader with his performance. I do not doubt Phasma capabilities but the movie didn't allow us to see why she has that rank.
I honestly thought it had to be a ploy to call for help and she'd call them fools for thinking she would do it.

it was the longest of long shots that allowed the resistance to blow up Starkiller base. So it doing that made more sense than dying, she though they would fail anyway.
Poe felt like a desperate attempt to channel Han Solo (which is super unnecessary since you know, he's actually there), but he at least fulfills his purpose.
Phasma acted like the villain of a children's cartoon and ended up completely overshadowed by Hux, of all people. I'd much rather see a comic about that guy.
Poe was originally supposed todie (in the crash in the desert, exactly when Finn thinks he does), but test audiences actually liked the character enough for them to write in a scene where he pops up and reveals that - SURPRISE! - he actually survived.
That's part of why his presence in the film is actually a bit weak - he wasn't supposed to be in most of it.
She's also supposed to appear in the next two movies (or at least the next one), but honestly, I'm not sure anyone would notice or care if she didn't.
this line from the writer seems more like PR Service the more you think about it
“It’s exciting enough when someone lets you contribute to the Star Wars universe in any real way, but when they let you create the first ever Phasma story for comics? Well, that’s about as good as it gets! Like most, I’m a huge fan of both Gwendoline Christie and Phasma. Christie is magnetic and Phasma has so much fascinating untapped potential…potential which I can’t wait to help unlock for fans in our comic.”
just because saying when someone lets you create the first ever phasma story for comic books that's as good as gets and that phasma has so much untapped potential
again i love her design but i doubt many became fans of her because of what she did in the movie which wasn't much
they went through the time and put in the effort to cast someone from game of thrones

Because Disney is really tight on money at the moment and casting someone from another show is such a big deal.
OK sure.

I swear I read somewhere that Phasma is coming back in later movies. I mean, they really didn't show them cutting off any of her communications devices, she could have just radioed someone to turn off the trash compactor.
Oh, but that's already happened in a Star Wars movie. Can't have and pandering to nostalgia in any Star Wars movies.
Maybe...her armor is made out of adamantium and just broke the compactor when it tried to compact her.
look it up

Funny, I remember the pre-release stuff hyping up Phasma... who then gets 5 seconds of screen time.

Her armor is also literally invincible. It's made from the metal from Palpatine's personal ship. It's indestructible.
If it's invincible, how was the ship damaged in the first place so you could get the material to craft it?

That's not how the force works.
That Poe X-Wing scene was enough to make him worthwhile.
