Don't know if it's a "franchise", but Highlander. "There can be only one" indeed.
How would it not be a franchise? It spawned 5 movies and 2 TV series as well as a cartoon series and an anime movie. It's way more of a franchise than nearly everything else posted in this topic.
It also qualifies because all of it after the original film ranged from mediocre to "one of the worst things ever put on film".
