There has to be more to it than that. Venezuela is like the Western hemisphere version of Iraq and Guyana is like Kuwait. We have friendly relations with Guyana who also have huge oil reserves. Venezuela has threatened attacking Guyana and I thought that was one of the big reasons we were so aggressive towards them.
