My understanding is that the Rapid Support Forces are responsible, and they are allegedly (but not proven to be) backed by the UAE, Chad, and the separatist government of Puntland in Somalia.

I know the image is labeled 2023-present but this is really not a recent thing, sudan has had crazy unrest for a long time

it's hard to even tell what's going on properly because they constantly imprison or execute journalists

always fun what google picks up... wasn't there a mass killing a few years back in africa that one of those google map cars picked up while driving around talking road photos? looked it up, it was Cameroon back in 2015. military went in and eradicated a village. took videos of the whole event and the BBC was able to identify the location with google earth and map.

UAE, US, UK, Israel, and more. Why? Gold mine. They have so much gold they are extracting the wealth from the people.

I have been following this a little, my limited understanding is that the RSF has taken a major city and/or dealt a huge blow to the army.

My coworker from South Sudan said it's been bad there since the the Sudan/South Sudan split, but I've never heard it was due to US/UK involvement. I was under the impression that it was civil war related.

dont know about that but there is absolutely no way they took those immigrants that trump "deported" to their country without getting some money. so at the very least the US is funding them.

Trump deported to South Sudan, which is an entirely different country than Sudan, which is the country that OP mentioned

Ah. So UAE doesn't act alone. US was not a direct involvement but more indirect. Details and nuance was hardly what I gave in my first response but when it comes to gold. Everyone who wants the gold from Sudan is implicated. Early reporting of Sudan from Russia was them taking their gold to fund their Ukraine war.

The USA, UK, EU, and Canada already have economic sanctions on Sudan.

Countries go to war even when we arent involved. And this is a situation where both sides are killing journalists so we have very little idea what is going on. It is the bloodiest conflict since ww2.
