...it's familiar?"

I've been putting off a few potential game replays because I feel like I'm futily chasing after the memory of some emotion it made me feel over a decade ago.

Sure do, sometimes I have the opposite problem where I struggle to start up a game but than get fully into it when I'm playing it.

I had that a bit when replaying RuneScape (OSRS) after many years, on a new ironman account. I still think it's a fantastic 9/10 game, but now that I'm older certain quests and minigames do feel quite outdated. Overall though it was worth replaying.

There's definitely games I've gone back to for nostalgia as opposed to enjoyment. Most of the time, but not always, I can recognize that going in and faff around in a way that I'll have a bit more fun without taking it seriously. But when I don't realize it and hit that feeling that I'm not getting anything out of it, it's not great.

I get this. I bought Horizon Forbidden West back in January. Not counting small PS+ games in my backlog that only took a few days to play through, I replayed "comfort" games like Surge 1/2, Cyberpunk, and the Mass Effect trilogy instead of jumping into a new large game that I'm assuming I'll really enjoy since I love the first one.

The ball is round, the game lasts 90 minutes. That's fact.
Everything else, is theory.
