Bulma's Japanese VA did, that might be who you're thinking of. And the creator of DB, Akira Toriyama passed.

Never liked Japanese adult Goku's voice for the character, but she's still a legend and kid Goku + Gohan were perfect.

This is weird because I'm starting from the premise that I don't like her voice for adult Goku but after accepting that, you're right, she did a GREAT job as Black.

I think Sean did well to make Black sound more pompous than normal Goku and he improved from his first dub in the Xenoverse series when Black at first had a smoker's rasp.

Im now sad. I had no idea he had passed away five years ago. He was the voice behind a lot of characters in many shows from my childhood like Inuyasha and X-Men Evolution in addition to Dragon Ball while Ocean Dub Group still did it. He is missed.

Yup it was $3k and it surprisingly sold out since it was only limited to 1000 I think. Honestly autographs for Japanese va's are more expensive depending how popular they are a long with dealing their agency and stuff so it sucks. I also seen ones that went for $300-$2k as well. Anyway, She was pretty much a once in a lifetime thing since they even said this was going to be first and last that they can get her to come to US convention.

So I'm not going to be surprised that people are going to overprice selling the merch she signed once she passes away.

Agreed. There are homeless and hungry people in the country who could use this money. But the Japanese state loves these kind of self-congratulating "culture awards". Meanwhile the LDP has it's biggest brains working on upgrading and reinventing their austerity machine at every turn.

These tax payer dollars have better uses. But, idk. How about if the awardee was a broke craftsperson? Maybe that's what it's really for and that's what usually happens? I like it as a sort of pension top-up.

Bro. I don't like the LDP and don't agree with what they spend stuff on. You just made some stuff up about them pushing austerity when it's the opposite. Some opposition parties want to reduce spending, but not the LDP. Takaichi being elected means even more spending, which she is actively promoting. Words have meanings. This isn't austerity.

While it's crazy she can still work on all the projects she does at her age, I'm really surprised they haven't forced her to retire yet. You really don't want a repeat of the narrator from early Super. If they have any long term plans on keeping it rolling, they're really going to have to set up a new generation of voice actors.

Look it's okay to just admit you don't understand what Japanese politics is like. Takaichi is planning big spending all around. Not just on military (which she is only planning for 2% of GDP, which is not that high). The only thing that will hold her back is lacking a majority and needing to work with parties that actually do want less spending. But those parties also want lower taxes (mainly eliminating sales tax on groceries). There will be no austerity. I realize Republicans have a set of policies, but Japan isn't America and the LDP isn't the Republican party. Massive spending has been their thing for a long time. Shit I get money every month just for having kids.

The solution to her inevitable passing is to use AI to replace her voice acting, even for some new dubs from my understanding. Instead of hiring someone else like with literally every other famous character.
