Salvation Run is an weird comic to tackle.

Probably going to be a James Gunn kind of way to lead into Apokolips/Darkseid

Trash season finale episode. Couldve made the last 2 episodes longer and it would've been a better finale.

It was more focused on setting up Season 3 and Superman 2 than concluding any plot points other than Chris's depression.

Just hard to take John Cena seriously in such a role. I mean, I hope he is really successful, but him having the top face run that lasted forever in WWE and all his goffy antics is something I can't "unsee".

This was a horrible finale. Almost nothing was resolved and the little that was didnt feel achieved or earned and almost felt shoehorned in. It was a very weird episode that felt really weird and out of place

Im just gonna pretend episodes 6 and 7 were the actual finale to this season, and they work pretty well as that. My two favorite episodes of the whole show honestly, and some of my all time favorite episodes of the whole year.

Episode 8 was wow. Disappointing is the least I can say about it. All set up and no pay off at all. It shouldve been season 3 episode 1 honestly. Really wish this season just ended with the previous episode.

However I will say I did like how they used the theme song (Oh Lord by Foxy Shazam) in this episode, just like how they used the first seasons theme song in the season 1 finale. Definitely my favorite part of this otherwise disappointing finale. Super feel good and emotional during that part of the episode for sure.

I liked it.

Because there was a denouement among the 11th Street Kids. They got to be the family they wanted to be. Chris was able to come to terms (in his own low intelligence way). Ads reached a resolution with Key. Harcourt is starting to heal, finally.

Obviously it's setting up for continued stories, even if it's not in a Peacemaker Season 3, but I'm not against that.

I think something that hurt the finale for me was maybe because I've never heard of Checkmate, so it being the big climax of the episode just kinda fell flat.

Did people really hate the finale? I thought it was fantastic and emphasized the point of the whole theme of the show, especially when they got together and created Checkmate. Not only that, but it also progressed the actual DCU, something the MCU never really did with their television shows.

Pretty bad episode ngl. The last episode felt like a better season finale. You can tell this season was made by a guy who was making a movie at the same time lol

I think people wanted more explosions and dead nazis. I really liked this ending: did a great job tying up all the emotional threads of the main characters and positioning them well for whatever the DCU has next in store. Cena has really come into his own as an actor but Danielle Brooks absolutely killed this episode.

Supposedly Gunn has said Peacemaker 3 won't be happening, but Chris will be relevant to DCU going forward. I suppose if Checkmate is important to the comics too then we'll be seeing more of Adebayo and the rest too.

nah i liked it too and brighten my day. tho i get why some didn't cuz they wanted the plot points at least addressed and not be a sequel bait like alien earth

I thought it was deliberate and that it had taken too long to arrive lol

Didn't watch his era so the reference isnt there for me. Show doesnt take its self seriously. He's a good fit for it, imo.

No. I thought the whole season was 7/10 (not a bad thing) and this episode was no different. It ended on a cliffhanger, if there's some unresolved plotlines then it's fine because there's a sequel hook. Meaning that in some way, shape, or form it is likely that those plotlines or character arcs will be resolved.

Id give the season an 8/10 but that ending as it stands on its own is like a 4 or 5/10. Too abrupt and we dont know how its going to pay off. Theres also a lot of time before we see how ot pays off. So for now the ending is incredibly disappointing but my opinion could be different in 2-3 years.

It kinda reminds me of Alien: Earth. It had an awesome season but that ending was garbage if they dont continue it.

Yeah, I liked it. Cliffhanger is annoying, but people who don't think it otherwise provided resolution weren't paying attention to what the season was actually about, which is Chris's state of mind.

My only WTF was realizing the lead singer of the theme song is a dude.

still thought it was an enjoyable episode. not as much as a season finale.

feels like more of a setup of what's to come in the new James Gunn DCU...

This. Honestly dealing with this alternate universe was 10x more interesting than the love story angle with Harcourt.

I did like that the whole 'boat thing' turned out to just be a kiss though. They did a decent job of making it seem like they hooked up all season.

The nazi dimension was set up all season. Then its gone and we get everyone singing. It was pure self-indulgence on Gunns part lol, something I both love and hate about him. But episode 7 was pretty awesome. Overall Im very satisfied with the season but yeah that finale was just a chill hang.

I assumed it was set up for a possible future villain or maybe a full on story with Earth-X.

But also it felt weird that nothing happened with Flag either... Or the Sons of Liberty... Man, hopefully we go back.

Yeah I think you're right in that people were probably expecting a CGI fest of some kind of epic battle at the end or something. The MCU has been doing this for their television shows and almost all of the finale's never stick their landing because of it. I like that this ending was suppose to be grandiose or anything, but about Chris beating his depression and how the rest of the cast were able to equally shine, especially Adebayo who jumped as my favorite character in this show. 100%. I found the love subplot, while relevant to the character development for both characters, to be a slog. If there was a subplot that shouldn't have linger as long as it did, it was that one. If there was a subplot that I would want to see more of, it's the multiverse one with the Sons of Liberty and his relationship with the new dimensions Dad and Brother. There was A LOT of great ideas in this season, with some of the execution being kind of shaky. It's still a great season though and I'll honestly give it a 8.5/10 when I gave the first season a 9.5/10.

I don't think people are wrong for wanting a resolution to the Earth-X plot mind. But I was also disappointed with how they handled the Butterflies in Season 1; even with some really slick action sequences leading up to it. I'd rather the emotionally complete story we got than one where they blow up all the nazis and then don't have enough time for the characters to process their emtotions.

I think Gunn's said that GI Robot will come back in something non-Peacemaker related. Maybe we get a scene of them opening a door to Earth X and just letting Robot free in there.

I think the only problem I had with the finale was Rick Flagg Sr (and it was a major problem).

My biggest issue with the show lies in the first five episodes not moving the plot much.

I still dug the show and I think it's a worthy second step into the DCU (live action wise). The MCU' second project was the Incredible Hulk and this is WAY better than that movie, the MCU ended up being fine. If take Peacemaker Season 2 over all of MCU phase one except Avengers.

That said I want to see what the first non-Gunn project is like in the DCU.

I didn't have a problem with the finale until I saw that apparently they aren't planning a season 3. As a normal season finale it was fine, but if that's a SERIES finale that's kind of lame to leave loose threads like that in order to maybe possibly bring them up in movies years down the line.

That still damages the individual series I feel, if it doesn't get wrapped up and instead ends on a shitty cliffhanger with several other unresolved plot threads that you need to watch other shows to finish.

I just don't think you get a satisfactory resolution to something like his Nazi brother as a subplot in a random movie.

Having the shows/movies be connected this much is super true to the comic book format ("see Thor issue #300" type shit) but I dont think it translates well for TV/film at all. I shouldnt have to watch Superman 2 however many years down the road for basically every major plotline in Peacemaker s2 to pay off.

I think shows or movies shouldn't leave too many cliffhangers because a lot of them never get resolved. Real world things come in and stop the story from concluding.

If the plot points from this do get resolved in a meaningful way down the road in something that's not peacemaker Season 3, I'm happy
