Nothing will match that original playthrough of CoD4:MW in 2007 though. It was the only game that has ever induced uncontrollable, legitimate rage in me in my 30 years of gaming. Never before or since have I broken a game controller in anger over a video game. After I smashed that PS3 controller, I quit Modern Warfare 2 and never looked back. It was the best thing I could have done for my mental health. Fuck that game, and that series. I do specifically remember MW3 being mid and the turning point where the general consensus started to wane for the series, and it was very apparent with the CoD-Tubers I watched at the time. But I also remember BO2 being a marked improvement afterwards. I think the next gen transition from the ps3 and 360 era to the next kinda fractured console multiplayer communities in a way it hasn't recovered since.
