Yeah I was gonna say, replacing these people in the public's mind is literally the point.

why do i have a feeling this show is gonna flop from the get go.

and not because of making Voldemort female or making Snape black or whatever. mostly cause this show feels unnecessary when the movies already exist. most Harry Potter fans will want to gravitate towards them anyway cause of nostalgia and stuff.

Anton Lesser, Janet McTeer, Paapa Essiedu, Bertie Carvel, John Lithgow have all got more than enough acting chops to do it justice.

HP's demo is millennials. Basically anyone who grew up with the books. The vast majority of the fans aren't looking for anything more than a nostalgia hit with this show.

Female VAs voice male characters all the time. so as long as everything else about the performance is up to par, I don't see why it'd make a particular difference for Voldemort specifically. Whoever is doing the performance is going to be wearing some kind of facial prosthetic or facial CG'd to hell and back anyways so I wouldn't really have a problem with it.

Potter's fan base isn't exclusively right wing anti-trans bigots. It's just people who grew up with it, and their kids who they passed it on to.

Most of them don't get involved with, or even think about, Rowling's bigotry.
