I actually don't really like the motorcycle section they showed ... It looked rough.

Honestly, the bike feels like its jumping the shark for me. Just feels like a lack of focus.

My hot take is Prime 1 is the only really great one, and seeing Prime 4 this year hasnt really given me any confidence. Id love to be wrong though.

the pokemon scar/vi legendaries are also motorcycles, open world shift

and they put a motorcycle in botw as dlc iirc? that was an open world shift

I'm really tired of Nintendo chasing trends from 10 years ago and forcing devs to shove a pointless empty open world into every game. Not every franchise supports that design. The desert in that trailer was really, really sparse looking.

That's...probably feasible. I just have faith that Retro knows what they're doing and it'll still feel like a Metroid game at the end of the day.

As someone who is turned off by open-world design, I'm actually fine with the barren wasteland of nothingness if it's mostly used as a means of riding the bike from point A to point B with some light exploration along the way. But it shouldn't be something you spend time in meticulously looking around like BotW.

We don't know how much time you'll actually be spending in this desert section, though. It could be like the space shooter segments in Star Fox Adventures: a fun little minigame between the main levels. If that's the case, it makes sense that it's basically just a track.

It has far from cutting edge graphics. But it has a very different art style. And it was made for the Switch.

They could've made you do wacky shinespark acrobatics in the open world just like Sonic did with that open world game they did a few years ago

Who knows, I'll buy it no matter what, so we'll see, though I think the key people at Retro left long ago, this isn't the same talent making the game and it's their chance to prove they're still a competent studio
