I've seen the first two episodes. I'm not crazy about it story-wise (but some of the camera work is interesting!) but I'm excited AF that it looks like it's removing those prequels from existence.

Unless I'm misunderstanding something here. Like maybe the Mark Zuckerberg dude isn't actually supposed to be Derek Weyland, for example.

They're not retconned, more like ignored. At least so far.

I think the major lore conflict so far is that the ship in Alien: Earth launched before the Prometheus did yet it is still pretty clearly a Weyland-Yutani ship. The companies had not merged until after Prometheus. It was definitely a Yutani venture, but still weird to see all the stuff labeled WY on board.

My other theory was time travel. Which would be even dumber.

Maybe before the official merger, they both did some big joint missions together.

Like some US Russia joint stuff.

They should just ignore everything after Aliens.

Despite the movies not being good I loved how the Halloween reboot sequels ignored all the original sequels and got rid of the Laurie being Michael's sister.

Yep. I think it takes place something like 50 years before Alien.

Yeah, at the moment there are only like a handful of people still alive that know anything about these. It's not like hundreds have been rampaging through the streets to extensive media coverage.

It's best to see the series as not part of the main timeline cause they said before that they are ignoring the garbage that was Prometheus and Covenant.

Tbh alien lore has been a mess even before Prometheus and Covenant

It seems like you can still say as of episode 5 all of it takes place in one universe

There was nothing lore breaking in 3. It's been a minute since I've seen Resurrection but the only real problem in that was how they got Ripley DNA that I don't remember, but nothing to bad. Really the biggest offenders were Prometheus and Covenant that shit all over everything.

Saw something the other day that Alverez isn't directing "Romulus 2" but will just be a producer with Ridley. There was also an interview with Ridley that nervous me was reading it as him wanting to become more involved in the Alien universe and even didn't dismiss the idea of finishing his David trilogy... so I guess maybe expect for him to come back and shit everything up even more. :/

The "Boy Genius " isn't Weyland. His is a company we have never seen before which probably means it won't exist by the end of this series. I'm expecting Boy Genius to die and his company to be destroyed

I liked the idea they tried to do but they kinda fumbled it. And Covenant just fucked up even more

I love the idea of humanity being an artifical creation from a higher civilization. And then us trying to locate our creators. But it didn't work out the way I wanted.

I love both Prometheus and Covenant. Especially Covenant, its actually my third favorite Alien movie after Romulus and the original Alien.

Also always feel like the odd one out when it comes to my preference in Alien movies. Really dont know why people hate Prometheus/Covenant so much, but its definitely the popular opinion pretty much everywhere.

Same with Aliens, I liked it but I just dont love it as much as everyone else does. I like Romulus/Alien/Covenant more tbh.
