Trump says a lot of things. Doesn't make them true. In fact, with how often he lies, his name might not even be real.

(And yes I see the /s)

don't worry, he fired the person who was telling it like it was and is instead getting someone who will tell you big beautiful lies. the trump job report will say that unemployment is down to 1% and we added 10 million new jobs last month!

The August job numbers are out (22,000) and they actually revised down the June and July numbers. Oopsies. I guess the new person is also getting fired.

Well that will come back to bite him when AI ends up sinking his company. AI is a useful tool, but that's all it is. A tool. You still need people to handle things.

I ain't disagreeing, exactly, but corporations opting for the "it's good enough" route if they can prove it saves money usually wins out in their decision-making process even if it results in a net negative.

June revised further downward to job losses.

And if Trump thought he could cook the books, this process simply does not allow it. Far more than a 10-fold safety measure that would have to be defeated. The entire agency would have to consent to it.

if that's salesforce then it's just marketing for their AI agents software. AI isn't good enough to replace people (yet), they're just using AI as an excuse to soften the blow plus market their AI agents.

Layoffs are not happening because of AI. AI is just a convenient excuse c-suites can point at to avoid addressing layoffs happening to boost shareholder value.

And in some cases, layoffs are happening so these companies can replace workers with cheaper labor from H1Bs.

You specifically? You don't deserve it.

But millions saw what Donnie was like the last time he was in office, how much they got fucked over by him, and decided they either wanted him back (whether because they bought his bull about being good for the economy, or because they just hated insert-minority-here and wanted them dead or locked up just for the crime of existing) or just didn't give a shit about stopping him from getting back in. And this time, they outvoted those of us who realized what a disaster his administration was and would be, so yes, the country in general deserves what it's getting now.

Anytime someone's taken this whole "getting what's owed" stance about the US it usually comes with a "hand of one is hand of all" undercurrent to where everyone has to bear some responsibility for the country being utterly shambolic. Doesn't matter what you believe or stood for, you still live here and still have to accept that you're part of a country that has its collective head up its own ass.

If you want to be "exempt" from being thrown under the "dipshit moron" umbrella then you need to move - that's the only way to distance yourself from "the ilk".

This is great news if you are an employer. You won't have to worry about the cost of retraining, giving any wage increases and can be rude as you wish as people have less opportunity to go elsewhere.

A good chunk of this is due to the threat of tariffs. The company I worked for stopped all expansion plans including laying off everyone related to expansion. That kind of stuff ricochets though the economy given how interconnected everything is.
