That moment was pretty rough, but I will defend it and say that there was a reason given.

In the previous movie, Michael gave his mask to some innocent dude to trick Laurie into killing someone innocent instead (which is really silly, but let's skip over that element for now), which left her traumatized. When she had him trapped, she hesitated and unmasked him because she was worried about it happening again.

Don't get me wrong, the entire thing was contrived (and feels like a retcon even if apparently they had it planned the whole time and filmed the thing with the innocent dude while shooting the previous movie), but there is at least some thread of logic given in the movies.

The dog door death in scream. She would have escaped if she pressed the button to raise the garage door. she knocked over ghostface and she was next to the button but instead ran to crawl though the dog door.

"guys, there's a killer on the loose, we should all split up, me and katey here will go explore the shower for 10 minutes..."

i cant think of a specific example, but a common trope in these movies is splitting up and fucking. it always ends in death.

wouldn't several punches like that to a mask, or hell even just to someones skull, break your damn hands? isn't that the whole reason why old school boxers before they started wearing padded gloves didn't throw head punches very often, because they ran the huge risk of shattering the bones in their hands on the hard as fuck skull of their opponent?

I'm going to defend that one as well. The actress actually did fit through the door. Apparently they had to nail her shirt to the door to keep her from falling out.

Not that it necessarily totally absolves the character in the context of the movie, but it does help her case a bit that she really could fit through the thing.

She'd been in a mental hospital after not checking before killing the last guy she thought was Michael Myers.

In the recent body horror Together, Dave Franco and Allison Brie fall into a dirty, muddy pit in the woods and are only down there for like 5 minutes, WITH some water they brought with them, before Dave Franco decides to just fill a big wine bottle he brought with them with water out of a gross anus-looking hole in the pit and start chugging. Then they just climb out the next morning.

Fun movie and it's kind of a comedy so maybe it was intentional.

These are not the stupidest things but these were so fucking irrational to me that they genuinely made me mad and took me out of the movie.

1. Midsommar
A woman jumps to her death from a cliff right in front of everyone and then is bludgeoned because she wasn't quite dead yet. Get the fuck out of there. I don't care if you're prick of a boyfriend is trying to do research for his doctorate. Get the fuck out of there!

2. Speak No Evil (2024)
This is might be the angriest I've been with characters in a movie. The parents are just incompetent, negligent and knowingly put their child in a dangerous and volatile situation. It was bad enough that they went back for her toy but I can just about follow the logic with that. But the decision to stay was inexcusable to me. All of the red flags and alarm bells with McAvoy and his wife. I was done, I hoped the children would be as OK as they could possibly be at the end of movie but I wanted all the adults to get rolled over by a steamroller.

My blood is boiling just thinking back to it.

You know what. I'm going to add it to my most hated movies list. Not necessarily the worst but ones which make me the most mad. For years it's been these three, 2012, Rent and Splice (there's another horror film where supposed geniuses make moronic decisions left right and centre) I'm adding Speak No Evil to that list.

The thing I dont get though, is why she didnt just call the police for help subduing him before they checked his identity. The man was hanging upside-down. He wasnt gonna run off anytime soon.

If he tried to escape, well, Michael piata time. And she could warn him as a precaution by saying something like Hey, dude in the Michael Myers mask, if youre not actually the crazy serial killer, speak up now.

The one that comes to mind at the moment is the reporter from Halloween 2018 showing Michael his mask at the asylum. Dude was in the asylum minding his god damned business for forty years and then here these two assholes come provoking him.

Oh also more Halloween stupidity: when everyone jumps him and just beat the living shit out of him, they leave him lying there. The man has shown that hes durable as hell; how about a double tap? Or at least restrain him when hes down so he doesnt get up like those asshole zombies in Resident Evil that become stronger if you dont burn them <_<

When a character is too stupid to run. In werewolf movies when the guy takes 5 minutes to transform at the end of it the person is still standing right there. In Alien when a girl is standing between the alien and the guy with the flamethrower.

They roll up on this mother fucker with multiple pickup trucks. PARK ON HIS ASS.

That girl in Saw who was in the easily escapable arm trap thingy but then she puts her free arm into the trap too for no reason.

First thing that comes to mind is Darry climbing down that hole at the Creeper's house. Who the fuck sees a monster throwing bodies down a hole in his back yard and climbs down there instead of going to the police?

Also every horror movie where a woman is hiding from a killer she literally can't be quiet to save her life. There's always some type of whimper or scream that alerts the killer to her location. They really make women dumb in horror movies. Running down the center of the road from a car instead running off the road, tripping and falling over her own feet, can't be quiet...

Yeah this bit had the same effect on me--took me right out of it. Felt also like it tipped the movies hand way too early. Should have made it a little more ambiguous in how it played out

I think that's based on a very real phenomenon, though. People will tolerate a lot of insane shit because they don't want to seem rude or culturally insensitive. They will throw self-preservation out the window in the name of politeness. From the outside looking in it's easy to see how ill-advised that can be, but it happens.

The second strangers.

The guy has one of the killers at gunpoint and then just tries to leave. And ignores his sister when she says

A. Shoot her.

B. Give HER the gun to shoot her
