Like every single day it's just worse and worse news and Trump just getting whatever the fuck he wants and getting rid of anyone who dares tell him the facts like jesus fuck when will this all end that isn't a full-on civil war

It's not going to end until he's replaced by a Democrat. Along with the magas in congress. We have 3.5 years at least of this shit.

For some perspective, since heavy parallels have been drawn with what's happening with the U.S. now: It took 12 years and a global war for Nazi Germany to fall.

And we know how painfully impatient the U.S. voting public is, so even if the Dems retook things in 2028, the progress wouldn't be "fast enough" and you know that the media and conservative outlets will exploit that for the 2032 election.

Honestly, I've been depressed about this among other things regarding the state of the world since November, as I realize how much of an impact these things make and how long it would take to recover from it even in ideal circumstances.

I still manage to get through daily life well enough and keep up my job, but I pretty much lost hope, as well as motivation to make something of my life (i.e. career, dating, home improvement, etc).

Much longer to replace the STEM infrastructure that was ripped up and fired at the start of the year, thanks to doge. It'll be worse now that NASA had cuts announced this summer.

We are deeply fucked. For generations.

I can relate. I had plans to finally move out of my parent's house, which at 36/37 was long overdue, but Trump winning and tearing everything apart has put a pause on that as I have no idea what the future holds or how bad things are going to get, and I feel that if I move out now, shit will soon hit the fan tremendously and I'll be up the creek (though I guess I could have always just moved back home in that event).

America as we knew it, is already dead.

It never will be fixed. Any Democrat who gets elected will be spending time trying to fix the mess the GOP created only for the GOP and media to claim the Democrat is "doing nothing" leading to the GOP to getting re-elected because the American public are morons.

I live in the Netherlands, and although I reckon it's not quite as bad as in the U.S. here yet, I do think it's on the way, especially considering pretty much any meaningful effort to solve the problems that affect most/all of society have been delayed and/or diminished due to (populistic) rightwing parties aiming to please their voters.

On top of that, so far the Dutch government seems to roll over to anything Trump tells them to do (which might have a little something to do with the former Dutch prime minister Mark Rutte being the current NATO Secretary General).

Like it or not, the POTUS still has a lot of influence in what happens in global politics, even if everyone in the world knows that POTUS happens to be an deranged lunatic. There has been somewhat more talk that Europe should be less dependent on the U.S., though so far it doesn't feel like it's a priority.

Oh and we recently had a collapse of the coalition, which was led by a populistic right-wing party, the popularity of which has barely diminished. They did to agree to Trump's demand of every NATO country raising their military spending to 5%, but where that money is supposed to come from? They'll leave that to the next coalition.
