Do you ever wonder if you'll be too old for video games?

Nah.

I recently turned 40 and game more these days than at any other point in my life.

I've been into video games since I was a kid, but for a lot of my life it was never really my primary interest but rather what I did when I didn't have anything better to do. But my social life has quieted down a lot in recent years and gaming has really taken over as the main thing I do.

I still go out and hang with friends a few times a month, but other than that playing video games is how I spend the vast majority of my free time.

Once you turn 21 you should stop playing video games.

As an adult you should not do anything fun. Just read the newspaper and do your taxes, nothing else.

I've found that I have less and less interest in them. Especially new ones. I'll still re-play old favourites like Pokmon, FM, or FF, but don't care about recent or upcoming releases at all.

Don't think it's anything to do with age. That drop off can happen at any time. Or not at all.

Probably... but I hope it's something I can enjoy with my kid one day.

Nope. My dad is in his late 60s now and still plays. There are certainly games he enjoys or is better at than others, but thats true for everyone regardless of age

Nah. There's time when I struggle for time or desire to play, but in this month long break I played half the Ys series and made decent progress in Octopath Traveler.

Probably. I'm 48 years old, games these are getting complex like Elden Ring, and even Zelda games like BotW and ToTK are starting to confound me, compared to older Zelda games.

that's fine. peoples preferences change. personally i no longer play fps, i lost all interest in them even though i loved them as a kid.

i was speaking more to people that either make the claim about themselves or try to force it on others.

Yeah, it varies from person to person. Some people drop them entirely when they go to university and discover other interests. Some play all their lives.

As long as you enjoy what you're doing, I see no problem. (Unless it becomes an unhealthy obsession that interferes with your life. But that applies to any hobby).
