has an Internet personality you liked ever stopped making content you liked?

I enjoyed the content of iilluminaughtii. Turned out the creator was a manipulative jerk and was cancelled in the overwrought YouTube drama fashion, but I still enjoyed her content.

in a sorta related topic, Andrew Hussie of Homestuck fame is in shit again with his fandom. But we all already knew he was shitty. It just never seems to stop, and the few people out there who are able to create canon content always end up being shit too. Sad

There is very few people I follow. I'm really not online much except killing time at work and most of my usage is here at gamefaqs like right now (I'm at work currently). With that said I found this great channel called jrpgfanatic. Not a huge channel but had like 16,000 subscribers and had some great content. Guy was really into it for like 8 years and it was clear he had intentions of growing. He had links for twitter, twitch, instagram, an email for business and collaboration stuff, all the stuff you would expect from someone trying to grow their channel.

They were clearly very dedicated to their channel and literally right about the time I found them 2 years ago they just stopped. They had slowed down some and admitted that a new job and being tired was slowing them down but that was the last time they ever said anything. After that just poof and gone. Not a single thing.

I mean this kind of stuff happens all the time for various reasons sure but it's always kind of wild to see someone go from active and obviously passionate about it and then just stop.

A couple. One that I discovered by chance that I thought was cool ended up drifting away from gaming and more towards just talking to viewers, which Im not interested in. The other made the move from YouTube to Twitch and it really exposed just how different someone can be between edited videos and talking on-the-fly.

I try not to fall into parasocial relationships because of stuff like this. Less that I think were real friends and more that I get legit sad when someone whose work I enjoyed stops doing it. Like, did the weight of the world crush them? Did they stop finding the work enjoyable? Did something bad happen to them? Are they okay? Will the fans ever get closure? Who else makes similar content / has a similar community?

Same. I even subscribed to her, but then not too long after, all the news about her came out, and I dropped her subscription.

Same. I had a feeling she was disingenuous, but I still liked her videos.

illuminaughtiis whole channel was just her reading other peoples work out loud and passing it off as her own. She didnt even try to hide it either. Im honestly surprised she got away with it for so long

There's a YouTuber I like who made "ruminations" on games and movies, often in the 30-60 minute range. But he just streams now I think. He says you can just watch the stream to get his thoughts, or the stream highlights... that's not the same!
