well right now I'm just downloading it, but I will be trying it soon.

I literally checked the steam page yesterday to see if there was any update to the release date estimate, and today I find out the early access got shadow dropped >_>

from what I've read there's only 4 classes and ~15 hours of content(so 1 act?), but if I play all 4 classes that's 60 hours!

I put it on an SSD and it's still taking forever to install.

yeah I loved the setting but the first one definitely feels a bit dated these days.

The AMD RX 6700 XT min spec has me concerned.

I went warfare first mastery since I had been meleeing stuff anyway

mostly dual wielding, sometimes I switch to a 2h

game seems solid so far but definitely feels a little slow

this first boss is hard

I beat the boss on my 3rd try, just had to be smart and spam the skill I've put the most points in for damage

Still getting used to the dodge ability, it doesn't let you go through enemies so on the boss it wasn't very useful

Yeah, from a mechanics standpoint the developers did a much better job with the followup game Grim Dawn. I still have a soft spot for the mythological setting and music though.

The original had like 30 classes so hopefully this one gets updated

it's only early access, they'll definitely add more.

I picked storm for my 2nd mastery, not sure that was a good choice since I'm only really using one ability. Maybe should have gone rogue second. I can't get the teleport ability Blink for a few more levels.

I got to the first major town, and the areas right after seem pretty huge.

Can we equip pants in this one?

I want the grim dawn expansion. I can wait for this to get out of EA

How is it comparing to Grim Dawn? Or the more modern ARPGs (PoE 1 and 2, Last Epoch)?

It feels more similar to Grim Dawn than LE or either PoE. I'm hoping they refine the engine a bit more and make things faster, but it feels pretty smooth for an EA build. Haven't had any crashes or fps drops so far or anything like that.

It feels slower than Grim Dawn right now, but I'm only lvl 11 so I don't have much to increase move/attack speed yet, and main in Grim Dawn had insane mobility and attack speed so I'm used to that.

Tbf the early parts of Grim Dawn (and TQ1) are also quite slow so that's not too surprising.
Hmm hopefully there is something good and new on offer here and not just more of the same.

i remember playing the first one for quite a bit and from what i recall, it was like Diablo but in an ancient Greece setting.

sooo...I just now realized you can put points into the core abilities(attack 1, attack 2, dodge, and barrier) to improve them. I was wondering why normal attacks were starting to feel so weak, since this game doesn't have the primary left click abilities that TQ1 and Grim Dawn have.

but I looked and the improvements actually let you do a lot and add a bunch of utilities to the regular attack. I added some splash damage and life steal to my 2nd ability, and there's also an upgrade that lets you convert 100% of melee damage to lightning damage, so that could go well with my Storm 2nd mastery later on.

also, this game has a whirlwind build for people who like those. I don't think TQ1 had one.

Whirlwind is basically ultra-easy mode in TQ2.

...As for performance, my laptop [sig] was getting ~40fps [+/-5] on high preset and a flat double that with lossless scaling FG handled by my iGPU [Vega 8].

I can either get 30 fps with everything on high with occasional hitching, or 60 fps with drops with everything on Medium. So actually I'd say it is optimized pretty well for EA on the new UE5 engine.
This is on a 10 yo cpu and 5 yo graphics card.

As for the game, I really enjoy it. It's basically Titan Quest with Path of Exile 2 combat and bosses, but at least you can outrun mobs in TQ2.

I get 60fps on epic settings, 1080p.

I lied about the no leg armor thing, there is "leg" armor but no separate boots slot.

can't edit that last post anymore, but if I switch to fullscreen and turn off vsync I get 100-120fps. But there's annoying screen tearing, so I've been playing with vsync on.

Got my first epic item, and luckily it was a 2h weapon. Pretty nice stats for this early, especially the movement speed.

I made a rogue to try a bow character for a while, it actually feels pretty good. A lot of ARPGs have weird feeling bow animations.
