Current events - What are your thoughts about the MCU recasting characters after Secret Wars? The Marvel universe is so big, with so many characters - I feel like recasting people is not necessary - either they come back to life with the same actors or we move on with other stories and characters.

Seems like such an obviously necessary thing that Im surprised theres anyone who doesnt.

Its the next step to every complaint you could have about superhero movies.

honestly, I would be ok with them continuing with new heroes and stories and reviving characters for cameos.

This. It makes things feel more real when you see heroes getting too old to continue and stepping aside for the next generation rather than saying "I'm played by a 20-year-old now even though I was 50 in the last movie".

I mean wasn't it obvious? how else would they get the x-men, F4, and the rest of the marvel heroes under one universe?

when I saw SWs was gonna bea movie I knew that's where they were heading

I stopped feeling it after Endgame.

it's what they've been doing since endgame and for the most part hasn't worked out..

They're not really rebooting. It's more like a 'soft' reboot. They'll recast characters like Iron Man and Black Panther, maybe Wolverine and Captain America. But for characters like Shang Chi, Kate Bishop, Yelena, Bucky, Sam Wilson, etc., they'll still be the same actors. They're not going to redo everything, no way. They've put in so much to this universe over the last 18 years.

The MCU failed to produce any superheroes that could take up the Captain America / Iron Man mantle to put butts in the seats in theaters. My guess is this all a reaction to this.

I give them credit for actually sticking to an extended continuity and being comfortable with having characters killed off, but it is blatantly obvious post endgame that, much like the infamous Marvel vs Capcom infinite quote, that these Heroes aren't "just functions" that can be replaced with other characters and expect audiences to care.

They committed to not recasting, and then killed off a lot of their most popular heroes, and now are basically forced into a reboot situation to recover.

At this point, it's kind of apparent that they need to recast, considering the ages of some of the actors and what they're required to do.

That said, I haven't seen a Marvel movie since Iron Man 2 (but will be watching Fantastic Four in a few days).
