The founding fathers are all rolling in their graves to see what America has become. Everything they fought for to build this wonderful nation being completely undone. And instead of patriots running the country we get a bunch of tax evading crooks and criminals running the place now.

July 4th, 1863 was easily the worst July 4th in American history.

The 4th of July is just another shitty day that a country founded on slavery, genocide and oppression get's to cosplay that it's some kind of beacon of freedom and democracy.

I think of it as not letting the shitheads claim America. I know that's hard because they actually quite literally do right now, but don't let that faction have a monopoly on the spirit of the country.

I'm not a U.S. citizen and am quite affected by this current administration, but would display an American flag as a sign of defiance. I grew up here and these are my damn colors, too.

Yeah, and I get to spend it with my maga parents.

If they start celebrating the signing of the shit bill I'm walking right out.

Even still, the thought of voicing pride to be an American right now makes me ill. Like even if you still are proud in some way, it will still typically be seen as tacit approval of the way we are currently operating.

The only "fireworks" should be flags burning.

No celebrating for me and my family this year. This country has always had flaws, big ones. But during times when America is striving to be more, to move toward equality and justice, to help the world, it is a country worth celebrating even when we fall short of our aspirations.

I am not proud of my country in 2025. There is nothing to celebrate. The bill the GOP just passed is going to take essential health insurance from millions so the rich can get a tax break. USAID is closed and children are going to starve as a result. All so a corrupt political party can bend the knee to an utterly corrupt, gross felon.

I am not going to stand and watch fireworks and wave an American flag and pretend that is ok. None of this is ok.

We are going to a protest in the morning, and curling up to watch movies in the afternoon and evening. I hope I can celebrate America again some day. Today, my country is a failure and a disgrace.

this. probably going to get reduced snap benefits too.

losing health insurance is bigger. i'll flat out tell my primary i cant do that if it's costing me what little money i have after they take stuff away so rich people can have more money.

When all freedoms are gone, then it will be the saddest, but this is one of the worst so far.
