Lmao all of these characters are original characters. Scott lang, who's been in the movies since 2013, is one such successor. No one said anything about him.

And many of the successors have found success. Theres a film franchise surrounding miles morales and Gwen Stacy right now you know.

Actually it's the only thing they can do since they're running the MCU with time actually passing more-or-less at the same rate as real world time (excluding the Infinity War/Endgame time skip and prequel movies), rather than a floating timeline like the comics use where the characters don't actually age.

That's the thing about live action as opposed to animation or illustration, you have to account for the fact that people get old or die or get exposed as domestic abusers and have to eventually retire characters and bring new ones in.

Probably because nobody cared about him. Then or now even. And Miles is an exception, one thats still not that viable without Peter or his storys and rouges yet still. But that could change eventually.

Obviously which is why you replace the actors while using their characters still.

Killing off iron men was a dumb decision for example when they could have just replaced the actors post endgame and continued the storys from there. Doing the same after the next big story.

Actually, the Oscars are won by peers. It is not critics. Critics and the Academy voters often disagree.

I do agree about Oscar bait. Academy voters are much more biased than critics. For instance, animated movies will often make a critics top 10 but hardly ever make the best picture list.

Figures. A lot of the complaints I've seen (before the movies and shows come out of course) are from tourists whose only exposure to Marvel is the movies, so they're completely unaware that these are characters who have existed in comics for years already.

some reviewers said it was one of the best Disney MCU shows, and others said it was really weak.

it's about at 69 on RT

I just watched the first three episodes and Im definitely enjoying it so far.

They dont always stick the landing with these shows but Im going to keep watching.

I kind of recommend just watching them without any more details.

From listening to word of mouth, it's not exactly getting rave reviews either. But review bombing is one of the biggest reasons I rarely trust "audience scores". Critic scores tend to be a bit more reliable because they tend to judge a piece of media through its merits and not because it gives better fan service or through political lens.

I watched the 3 episodes just now. It's ok? Nothing special.

Meh, I'll have to watch it to see for myself. The trailer was okay.

This kind of culture-war inspired review bombing is such a weird, lame, frustrating phenomena, and giving anything a 1 is pretty silly. Like, is it an actual TV show with a plot and characters with some cinematography that can be watched? Boom, that is already a 2, at least, maybe even a 3.

As I recall, Riri was invented during the era of "Thor is suddenly unworthy and has to give up his name, but Jane Foster is. Steve Roger's goes "Hail Hydra" shortly after handing the shield to Sam. Meet your new favorite heroes: Snowflake and Safespace." Sure, in hindsight, some of these things ended up shaping up into good stories (I don't think Snowflake and Safespace ever went anywhere). But it doesn't change the fact that Marvel was clearly trying to do a thing, and these characters are irrevocably stamped with that thing they were trying to do. I'd argue that this, and not Captain Marvel, is when the anti-woke incels actually put Marvel in their crosshairs. Riri's MCU debut was doomed years ago.

It really doesn't help that she's meant to replace the single most beloved and charismatic fan-favorite character from the OG MCU. "Oh, she's different, she has magic, and-" literally nobody cares. The direct 1-to-1 Iron Man comparisons were inevitable, and Dominique Thorne just isn't going to grab people the way RDJ did. Because few, if any, people can. It's not fair, but it's inevitable, that's the nature of a series like this.

I don't have an active Disney+ account since nobody in my house was using it. Now I sub for a single month only if something actually worth watching drops.

Because there are a ton of things to watch and decisions have to be made. If I am on the fence and it is getting meh reviews, I could instead watch more acclaimed things in my backlog like Shogun and Fallout.

I always think it weird that people don't get this.

I think the period you are referring to was famous for literally like every major hero being missing or dead or whatever at that time. And pretty much everyone had a new replacement. For Tony Stark I think he was in a coma so Ironheart took over

I mean, I guess. I suppose that's more of a me thing, since most things look like shit and I only watch like 3 things ever 2 years. After I hate-finished Sons of Anarchy I vowed to never continue watching things that start getting terrible or lose my interest. lol

I have the opposite problem. I want to watch everything and play every game. I have to puck and choose and critical consensus can play a role

So then the show maybe has some value to it, and finally the authentic reviews were able to overwhelm the trolls efforts.

Its really fucked up that we now live in a world where people will tell you that a show they didnt see is bad based on reviews from people they dont know when youve watched it yourself.
