Im sure at least some here have had dealings with tabletop rpgs. One of my favorite studios has always been Whitewolf with there dark but well written games. Having recently started gming Wraith again and having to explain what it even was I started wondering about the current popularity. Im aware Vampire has multiple games and still has new books but I thing the others are mostly dead.
Has anyone on CE played or heard of any of these games? Any favorites?

I had a few sessions of VtM back in the 90s. I knew people who were into it and I liked it but rarely was able to actually play. I also played werewolf a couple times

The White Wolf universe is pretty cool. They had a VtM tv show back in the day and I kinda wish they tried that again. Maybe with spinoffs for the other creatures

Over the years I've played Vampire, Werewolf, Mummy, Mage, Hunter, and Demon. Currently I play Werewolf and Vampire once a month each. I always wanted to get my group to run Mummy or Demon, but I was the only one who wanted that.

Iv been buying the older books recently, mainly Wraith. The new books arnt bad but just seem to have lost somthing.

The nWoD lines were a massive disappointment which is a huge shame because the nWoD core books like Reliquary are some of the best they've ever made.

I've played exalted and heard of or read the others. Not really a fan of the system they're interesting settings.

I've always wanted to try out Mage.

There are alot of Mage books. My favorites are the two Reality Web books and the Technocracys toybox. Gives you that 90s internet feel with magic. Add in some hacker Wraiths for a good time.

Despite my fiance rambling about tabletop nonstop, I have never heard of this.

WereWolf having double the caps of other classes, in a system named WhiteWolf? This reeks of lycan bias.

New World of Darkness is, along with d20 Modern, the game that got me into the hobby and will always have a place in my heart. I wish Chronicles of Darkness didn't end up getting abandoned. :(

I play Vampire v20 currently, very fun. Would like to try the others out as well, but our ST does implement stuff like changelings and werewolves into our campaign.

If you ignore a few parts of the setting, using mainly Digital Web, Technocracy books, the Virtual adepts & akashic brotherhood... You basically have The Matrix RPG

I reject the accusation that anyone enjoys wandering hobo: the RPG.

It doesn't need to die in a fire like Beast but what in this game is enjoyable?

They didn't get abandoned. Paradox decided having two lines was bad for their business so they refused to renew it with Onyx Path. Basically they sabotaged the line to force those people into buying their own house made line

Chronicles system is a good system and I like the basic idea of Promethean being more about a solemn sojourn.

Honestly out of all of these it's Mummy that is the most wild swings. Like it has one of the best concepts but holy hell, when you get down to brass tax the game is a middle management simulator where the goal is to quiet quit. And that's awesome but I'm not sure that's the kind of game you can play more then once.

Beast is fun if you're able to reframe some of the themes, it works well as a vigilante/anti-hero type of thing.

That's kind of the definition of "abandoned" though?

Promethean is great if you want to run a game that leans heavily into social themes and what "humanity" actually is. It's not a game about dungeon crawling or being a popular hero, it's a more introspective and thoughtful game.

Those three, and especially Changeling I think are the best to offer. Actually the standard Chronicles book for just normal humans is really good too

I love d20 Modern. Still use it now. Nwd was good, tho its weird Wraith became Geist.

There was a spiritual successor game, Everyday Heroes, that released a couple years ago. They were even planning an Urban Arcana sourcebook. Sadly it seems like the game's already been abandoned because the CEO of the company that was making it was abusive to staff and got way too into crypto/NFTs, among other issues.

I think another company is picking up the torch by creating third-party content for it, effectively becoming the de facto new developer, but I can't remember their name right now.

EDIT: It's SigTrent Games, actually the lead developer for Everyday Heroes who left the company (Evil Genius Games) after the CEO's breakdown.

Im reading threw some of hunter now... its kinda weird. Most WOD stuff has the gm in charge of the story. In hunter it follow there story or dont play hunter. Also it take the dark and complex story telling and turns it into a "monster of the day" type game. Good stealable lore tho.

The Fallen? I've got a few of the books, but I could never get my group to run it. I did get them to play the Street Fighter rpg which is oWoD compatible.

Iv seen very little of the Street Fighter rpg. Mostly Magazine adventurs. Is it any good?

It's not bad. Definitely different than the rest of the World of Darkness.

I've heard of all of those, but I've never played one.

Vampire: The Masquerade and Werewolf: The Apocalypse. Old WOD >>>>> New WOD.

Just ordered Wraith GhostTowns today, gotta mix the weird werewolf west with ghosts.

Understandable, they are very dark. Wraith can be much darker tho.

So far I like the characters in the fiction of Hunter but the way it pushes the lore is anoying. Mage is great with its satire filled lore and crazy tech toys. Checking out Geist soon

Got ghost towns. Never cared to much about Werewolf. Might check out the Demon books next.

Yeah, that can be a bit of a hard sell. I mostly just mix it with D20 Modern and Nwod to add videogamey stuff to my campaigns.
